TV-Series
Description
Kirika Yuumura is the deuteragonist of the anime Noir. She is a teenage girl living in Japan who awakens one day with no memories of her past, possessing only the knowledge of the codename "Noir," a student identification card bearing her presumed name, a Beretta M1934 pistol, and a pocket watch that plays a distinctive melody. This profound amnesia defines her initial state, leaving her feeling disconnected, contemplative, and withdrawn as she struggles to understand her own identity without any personal history to anchor her.

Her personality is defined by a sharp contrast between her ordinary, fragile appearance and her extraordinary, violent abilities. Outwardly, Kirika seems sweet, quiet, and curious, observing human behaviors in an attempt to understand normal life. She values simple things, cares for a lost kitten she finds on the street, and can be deeply affected by the suffering of others, including her targets. However, this gentle demeanor masks the instincts of a highly trained killer. When engaged in combat, she becomes cold, tactical, and ruthlessly efficient, capable of violence without visible hesitation, a duality that distresses her.

Kirika's primary motivation is the search for her lost past. To uncover the truth, she sends an email to Mireille Bouquet, a renowned assassin in Paris, inviting her on a "pilgrimage to the past". Mireille accepts the offer on the condition that she will ultimately kill Kirika once their journey ends and the mysteries are solved. The two form a partnership, adopting the legendary underworld name "Noir" and working together as assassins for hire while being drawn into a larger conspiracy involving a secret society called Les Soldats.

The central relationship of the series is the evolving bond between Kirika and Mireille. Initially bound by a pact of death and a professional necessity, their connection deepens into genuine partnership and affection. Mireille serves as a mentor and a mirror, helping Kirika navigate the world of assassination while also confronting the dark truths of her own past. A key figure in Kirika's development is Chloe, another assassin who recognizes Kirika as the "true Noir," triggering the recovery of her repressed memories. This recovery reveals a tragic history: Kirika was a child assassin raised by the Soldats from a very young age, and her first mission was to murder Mireille's entire family.

Kirika's character arc is one of painful self-discovery and reconciliation. Upon learning the horrific truth of her own actions, she wavers between accepting her role as the "true Noir" and rejecting the cycle of murder and revenge. In the final confrontation, faced with the demand to kill either Mireille or herself to complete the Noir legacy, she instead chooses to sacrifice herself, shooting Mireille's weapon to block a bullet aimed at her partner. This act, and Mireille's subsequent choice to forgive her and pull her back from death, allows Kirika to break free from her programmed destiny and be reborn, not as an instrument of death, but as a person with a future.

Notable abilities define Kirika as a supremely gifted, almost preternatural assassin. Her combat skills are largely a product of physical memory, where her body instinctively knows how to fight even when her conscious mind does not remember learning. Her marksmanship is exceptional, and her preferred weapon is the Beretta M1934, a small pistol she wields with deadly accuracy. Beyond firearms, she is highly creative and resourceful, capable of turning nearly any object, such as a fork, into a lethal weapon. Her physical agility is also notable, as she performs acrobatic feats and uses martial arts to overcome larger opponents.
