Description
Hiroshi Rara is a character who exists as two distinct counterparts across the parallel worlds featured in Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure. In one reality, designated as World A, he is a respected and brilliant scientist who has achieved the pinnacle of academic success as a Nobel Prize winner and was once a partner to the scientist Ken Sanada. In the other reality, World B, his ambitions take a dramatic turn, and he becomes a primary antagonist, known as General Rara, the leader of the Rara Army and a would-be world conqueror.
Physically, Hiroshi is an adult male with black eyes and brown hair. His personality is layered and often contradictory, blending his origins as a man of science with the theatrical role of a villain. As a conqueror, he has a flair for the dramatic, treating the war not as a brutal conflict but as a grand game with its own rules and a leading role for himself. He announces his invasions in advance to allow for the evacuation of civilians and fights largely casualty-free battles against the Earth Defense Force, suggesting a sense of showmanship and a desire to avoid unnecessary suffering. Despite his public persona as a fearsome general, he has a much softer and more domestic side. Within his family, he is a caring father to his daughter, Mitsuki Rara, and a husband to his wife, Ayuko, showing genuine interest in his daughter's life and taking pleasure in simple tasks like preparing dinner and making guests feel comfortable.
His primary motivation for seizing power in World B is not simple greed or malice. He believes that the advanced alien technology he discovered must be kept out of the wrong hands, and he positions himself as the only man responsible and knowledgeable enough to be its guardian. He justifies his conquest as a necessary measure to control this powerful technology and limit the potential for widespread destruction. Later, his scientific reasoning becomes crucial when the very fabric of the two parallel worlds begins to fracture. He is instrumental in diagnosing the dimensional crisis, theorizing that the coexistence of the protagonist, Kazuki Yotsuga, and the giant alien robot Zinv in the same world was tearing both realities apart.
In the story, Hiroshi serves as the head of the Rara Army, the main opposing force to the UN-led Earth Defense Force commanded by his former partner, Ken Sanada. He commands vast resources and powerful mecha derived from alien technology. His key relationships define his character arc. His partnership with Ken Sanada in both worlds is a central dynamic, shifting from scientific collaboration to bitter rivalry, though they eventually reconcile. His relationship with his wife Ayuko is particularly important; while she initially appears as an ally in his conquest, she is a far more ruthless and power-hungry figure. She easily usurps his authority, strips him of his command, and reduces him to a janitor with a mop and bucket when his "game" does not produce quick results, revealing that he was largely a figurehead for her ambition.
Hiroshi undergoes a significant development when his command ship is crippled during an attack. As Ayuko coldly demands a fight to the death, sacrificing even their daughter's well-being, Hiroshi defies her. He slaps her, asserts his authority, orders a surrender, and personally ensures the evacuation of everyone on board, including his wife, before the ship is destroyed. This act redeems him and highlights the fundamental decency beneath his theatrical villainy. Following the resolution of the dimensional crisis and the merging of the two worlds, Hiroshi and his family move in next door to the Sanadas. He reconciles with Ken and is instrumental in convincing Kazuki to use the rediscovered Zinv as a means for outer space exploration. Later extended lore, connected to the broader Tenchi Muyo! universe, explains that after these events, Hiroshi and the others formed a great prehistoric civilization that seeded the galaxy. His astral essence is said to continue reincarnating through time, influencing galactic history for eons to come.
Notable abilities include his genius-level intellect and extensive knowledge in quantum physics and alien technology, which he uses both to build his army and to solve the dimensional crisis threatening both realities. As a leader, he is strategic, if somewhat theatrical, and a capable pilot of advanced mecha. However, his most defining ability is his scientific reasoning and his capacity to see beyond the immediate conflict to the larger forces at play.
