Description
Panther Zora is the main antagonist of the Cutie Honey anime and the supreme leader of Panther Claw, a worldwide criminal organization whose all-female operatives steal and hoard jewels, precious metals, and art. Her central goal is to obtain the Air System of Fixed Elements, the device embedded within the android Honey Kisaragi that can rearrange the elements of the air to create nearly anything. Zora desires this power for her own personal gain and is willing to go to any lengths to seize it from Honey.
Her background changes across the different versions of the story. In some series she is presented as a god-like being who acts as the true leader of Panther Claw, while in others she is an immensely powerful witch who has survived for thousands of years, with the original manga placing her origins in the Amazon rainforest. In many anime adaptations she is never physically encountered and exists mainly as a distant, shadowy presence who commands her subordinates from behind the scenes. In Cutie Honey Universe she is described as an omnipresent leader with little apparent interest in the daily activities of Panther Claw or in Honey herself. In other versions, such as Cutie Honey F, she eventually appears in person and confronts Honey directly during the final battle, and in some later stories she operates in disguise as the warrior Black Maiden before revealing her true identity.
