Description
Patty appears in Gall Force: Eternal Story as a seventeen-year-old soldier assigned to the Solnoid cruiser Star Leaf, where she serves on the bridge as the combat assistant. Among the main crew she is initially one of the least prominent figures, an easygoing young woman who is content to follow orders and keep quiet most of the time. Her distinguishing characteristic is a tendency to drift into trance-like moments of distraction, and she is more of a follower than a leader. This passive, suggestible nature shapes her part in the story: when an alien creature infiltrates the Star Leaf and infects her as well as her shipmate Eluza, Patty does not know how to handle the situation and keeps her infection a secret from the rest of the crew.
Although she begins as something of a background figure, Patty's role becomes increasingly significant as the story progresses. She is one of only three survivors to reach the planet Chaos aboard the Blossom, and her concealed condition and quiet endurance place her at the center of the events that follow. Her motivations are rooted in duty and loyalty rather than ambition; she does not challenge authority and does not reject the experiment the way Eluza does, a choice that may be linked to her distracted mental state. Late in the narrative she forms a decisive partnership with her crewmate Rabby. After Rabby learns the truth about the Plan, the two decide to make a suicide run against the remaining Solnoid forces while sending Rumy and the Boy on toward Terra, an act that turns the formerly unremarkable crew member into one of the most instrumental figures of the whole story.
Patty's development is therefore one of quiet transformation. She starts as an easily overlooked soldier who follows orders, conceals a dangerous infection out of confusion and fear, and ultimately commits herself to a sacrificial mission for the sake of her comrades and the future they are trying to protect. Her notable abilities are not extraordinary in a technical sense; she is a capable bridge crew member and combat assistant whose real significance lies in her choices, her endurance, and the loyalty that drives her final actions.
