OVA
Description
Hinata Okano is the adopted younger sister of Makoto Okano. Born in Kazune City, she moved away with her brother and Minamo's family after her father's death, later returning by train with Makoto to enroll in high school following their mother's disappearance. She is not biologically related to Makoto; she, Minamo, and Wakaba are all real sisters, and their true father is Professor Akihito Narukaze.
She has short red hair with spiky bangs and an ahoge, straight sidehair, and brown tareme eyes. Her pale, slim teenage body stands 153cm tall, weighing 45kg, with measurements of 79-57-81cm. She is often seen in a school uniform, skirt, sports shoes, yukata, one-piece swimsuit, or accessories like a hair ribbon, headband, body ribbon, and ribbon tie. She almost always carries a pair of binoculars, which she uses to spy on things, showing a particular fascination with the blimp that flies over Kazune City daily.
Her personality is carefree, curious, docile, energetic, friendly, immature, and mischievous. She commonly follows her brother around or pulls pranks on him, possesses a brother complex, and is very fond of Makoto. She often uses made-up words and exclaims her favorite catchphrase, "Unyah~!", when hurt, angry, or confused. Despite sometimes seeming inattentive, she is very curious and has an excellent memory, which allowed her to immediately recognize her childhood friend Minamo after years apart. After their mother disappeared, she took over much of the housework and became an excellent cook. She engages in activities like cooking, shopping, teasing, playing volleyball, and participating in school events such as running a maze during the festival. She also celebrates her birthday together with Wakaba.
She possesses a superhuman ability to jump higher than most two-story buildings, a power linked to Kazune City's mysterious nature. Overusing this ability and crossing the town's protective barrier while searching for the blimp with Makoto leads her to develop a mysterious illness. The symptoms mimic a powerful fever at night, followed by daytime drowsiness, fainting spells, and a progression into a coma-like state that can turn a person vegetative. This disease is connected to the loss of one's special power within the town.
Her personal story involves deep feelings for her brother. Aware she is not his biological sister, she confesses that she does not want Minamo to take him away. The nature of their relationship becomes pivotal, with potential outcomes where they remain siblings or become lovers. If they choose to remain siblings, she falls into a coma. To save her, a soul transplant from Makoto is proposed, which would result in his death. Alternatively, Hikari sacrifices herself, as her death provides another way to break the curse and cure the disease. After these events and the resolution of the town's mysteries, memories of Hikari and the town's powers are wiped from everyone's minds. She recovers from her illness and lives happily with Makoto, potentially addressing him as "Makoto-san" instead of "oniichan" if they become lovers.
