Description
Neese, also known as Little Neese, is the daughter of the magician Slayn and the priestess Leylia, and the granddaughter of the elder Neese, who was one of the legendary Six Heroes. Born into a bloodline deeply connected to both the goddess Marfa and the dark god Kardis, Little Neese inherited the incarnation of Naneel, the high priestess of Kardis, from her mother. This inheritance made her the Doorway, one of three keys necessary for the resurrection of the destroyer god. As a result, she carries a dual nature within herself, being both a priestess of Marfa like her grandmother and mother, and a vessel for the soul of a dark priestess.
Little Neese is initially portrayed as emotionally detached and reserved, a consequence of being aware of Naneel's presence inside her. She deliberately distances herself from others to protect them and to maintain control over the dangerous power she harbors. Her personality is marked by a quiet solemnity and a sense of isolation, though not without a underlying strength and determination. As the story progresses, her emotional barriers begin to erode when she meets the young warrior Spark. Through their interactions, she gradually allows herself to form attachments and experiences feelings of love, marking a significant emotional development. This relationship becomes central to her personal growth, helping her to become more open and courageous in facing her destiny.
Her primary motivation is to resist the influence of Naneel and to prevent the dark god Kardis from being resurrected through her. She seeks to live her own life rather than be a mere tool for others' ambitions. This internal struggle drives much of her role in the narrative, where she is both a target for those who wish to use her power and a key figure in the conflict against the forces seeking to bring about the destroyer's return. During the War of the Destroyer's Resurrection, she is abducted by the dark mage Wagnard for his ritual, prompting a rescue mission led by Spark and his companions. Her eventual liberation from Naneel's essence comes when Wagnard attempts to draw the dark priestess's soul out of her to complete the resurrection, freeing her from the possession.
In terms of abilities, Little Neese is a priestess of Marfa, granting her access to healing and holy magic. Additionally, due to the incarnation of Naneel, she possesses latent dark powers tied to Kardis, though these are not something she willingly uses. Her notable abilities are primarily spiritual and magical rather than combative, focused on her role as a priestess and as a focal point for the conflict between divine and destructive forces. Her key relationships include her parents, Slayn and Leylia, who are deeply concerned for her well-being; her grandmother Neese, whose name she shares; and Spark, the young knight from Flaim who becomes her romantic partner and whose support helps her overcome her emotional isolation. Through Spark's steadfastness and the friendship of his companions, she learns to trust others and to believe in her own worth beyond the curse that has defined her life.
