TV-Series
Description
Izumo Miyauchi is introduced as the keeper of a local Shinto shrine, and his role places him in a unique position within the story as he discovers the true identity of Shaorin as a supernatural guardian spirit. He is characterized by a notably duplicitous personality, presenting a cheerful and charming facade when interacting with Shaorin and other female characters. However, this pleasant demeanor sharply contrasts with his behavior around male characters, particularly Tasuke Shichiri, towards whom he displays open hostility and a willingness to use underhanded tactics. This duality in his conduct earns him a reputation for having what could be described as a split personality.

Motivated by his persistent romantic feelings for Shaorin, Izumo actively schemes to redirect her affections toward himself. Recognizing Shaorin's growing emotional attachment to Tasuke, he deliberately manipulates her limited understanding of human emotions, attempting to convince her that her feelings are not genuine affection but rather guilt over being a burden to Tasuke. This calculated approach extends to various methods aimed at undermining the bond between Shaorin and Tasuke, including efforts to physically separate them or sow discord between the pair.

In the narrative, Izumo consistently serves as an obstacle to the central relationship between Tasuke and Shaorin. He leverages his position by managing the school store during activities, which provides him with opportunities to interact with Shaorin. One notable plot point involves family pressure on Izumo to enter an arranged marriage with a relative. Demonstrating his willingness to exploit circumstances for personal gain, he asks Shaorin to pose as his girlfriend, framing this deception as a solution to avoid the unwanted marriage while secretly advancing his own romantic pursuit of her. This event illustrates his persistent desire and his characteristic approach of twisting situations to serve his own interests, positioning him as a recurring antagonist to the protagonists' relationship across the main series and its various adaptations.
