Description
Priscilla S. Asagiri, commonly known as Priss, is a nineteen-year-old member of the Knight Sabers and a central figure in the Bubblegum Crisis story. She is a Japanese-American rock singer and motorcyclist who leads her own underground band, known as Priss and the Repliocants in the original series and Sekiria in the later Tokyo 2040 version. In the classic series she has slightly curly brown hair, red eyes, and a tall, athletic build, and she often performs in a white stage costume that contrasts with her rough street image.
Priss's background is shaped by loss. She was orphaned during the second great Kanto earthquake of 2025 and spent a gloomy childhood in an orphanage with no one to rely on. By age seventeen she was living on the dark side of MegaTokyo, working as a small-time singer at local live houses and riding a motorcycle. She joined a biker gang and fell in love with its leader, but he was assassinated after discovering the secret of a powerful organization. When the AD Police ruled his death a mere accident, Priss developed a lasting grudge against law enforcement. Armed with a gun and determined to avenge her lover, she set out to hunt down the killers alone. Her path changed when Sylia Stingray approached her in a red car and asked her to entrust her burning heart to the Knight Sabers, recruiting her into the team.
Personality-wise, Priss is moody, defiant, and fiercely independent. She is generally antisocial and anti-authoritarian, with little patience for rules or the police, and she often keeps her thoughts and feelings to herself. Her rebellious streak is tempered by a good heart and a sense of humor, and although she can seem distant, she cares deeply for the few people she considers true friends. In combat she fights with ferocious abandon, sometimes with little concern for her own safety, driven by a strong desire to destroy the boomers that threaten her city.
