Description
Mejiro Ardan is a horse girl from the prestigious Mejiro family who appears as a key character in the story of Oguri Cap's generation. She is characterized by a gentle, thoughtful, and graceful personality, embodying the demeanor of a noble young lady from a distinguished lineage. Her full sister is Mejiro Ramonu, the first winner of the Triple Tiara, a fact that adds to the weight of her family's legacy.

Ardan's defining trait is her physical fragility. She was born with exceptionally delicate legs, often described as being like glass, which makes her naturally unsuited for the rigorous demands of competitive racing. Due to this weakness, she has endured numerous injuries and long periods of hospitalization, causing her parents to worry deeply about her athletic pursuits. Despite this, she does not view herself as unfortunate. Instead, she possesses a quiet but fierce determination to run with pride and shine in a race, even if only for a fleeting moment. Because her childhood was marked by poor health and isolation, she finds the social aspects of school life at Tracen Academy, such as chatting with friends after class, to be wonderfully fresh and stimulating.

In the narrative, Ardan is initially a classmate of Oguri Cap, and she is one of the first to notice the extraordinary talent within her seemingly ordinary demeanor. After a period of absence due to her own physical setbacks, she becomes intensely focused on studying Oguri's racing strategies, planning a calculated confrontation. Her pivotal race occurs in the Mainichi Okan, where she identifies and attacks what she believes is a weakness in Oguri's running style. However, she witnesses Oguri and another rival, Inari One, enter a state of reckless, full-throttle "zone" that obliterates her carefully laid plans, leaving her in awe and fear of the insurmountable wall they represent.

Following this defeat, the story takes a somber turn when Ardan is diagnosed with flexor tendinitis, a condition described as a virtual death sentence for a horse girl's career. The emotional weight of this moment is profound. While she initially tries to maintain composure in front of her close friend Sakura Chiyono O, she later breaks down alone in her hospital room, wailing in despair at the prospect of never being able to run again. She eventually returns to racing after a long convalescence. In a later race, the Emperor's Cup, she manages to defeat Oguri Cap, only to realize that she and her rival Yaeno Muteki have finally succeeded in making Oguri into a true idol. She then decides to leave for overseas, a decision that reflects the real-life fate of her thoroughbred counterpart, who was sold to a stud farm in China.

Mejiro Ardan shares a particularly close bond with Sakura Chiyono O, who is not only her roommate but also her closest friend and training partner, offering silent support during her most difficult times. She is also part of a wider circle of friends that includes Yaeno Muteki, Super Creek, and Dictus Striker, with whom she often holds tea parties. Her sister, Mejiro Ramonu, is another significant figure in her life, serving as an inspiration. Within the Mejiro family, she also shows a straightforward and accepting attitude toward her eccentric relative, Mejiro Ramonu. Her signature ability is not raw power but a sharp, analytical mind. Unable to rely solely on her frail physique, she compensates with meticulous study and simulation, devising tactical strategies to compete against more naturally gifted runners. Her racing style is that of a pace chaser who excels at medium distances, using her intelligence to seize the right moment to strike. Her constant companion is a set of carefully wrapped bandages, a practical and symbolic reminder of the fragility she must manage every day.
