Description
Toombs, also known as Ushiro Omaeno in Japanese, appears in the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS. His Japanese name translates to "Behind You!"—a phrase he uses to startle others by prompting them to look backward. This habit often causes people to misinterpret his introduction, preventing them from learning his real name and deepening his struggles with recognition.
Physically, he has pale skin, long messy black hair that typically obscures his silver eyes, and dresses modestly compared to his flamboyant bandmates. His attire includes a long-sleeved grey shirt with lighter grey sleeves extending over his wrists, charcoal pants, and brown cowboy boots.
He battles a profound identity crisis and pervasive sense of being overlooked. Typically quiet and soft-spoken, he occasionally erupts into sudden, unsettlingly loud rants. He harbors an intense fascination with urban legends and ghost stories, themes that heavily influence his Dueling tactics and card designs. Despite his eerie presence, he lacks malice; his core desire is for others to acknowledge his existence. He displays genuine happiness and a more typical demeanor when recognized, such as when Lucidien "Luke" Kallister vows to remember his name during their Duel.
As bassist for the band RoaRomin, he feels overshadowed by the prominent vocalist Roa Kirishima and guitarist Romin Kirishima, intensifying his feelings of anonymity.
In Duels, he employs a Zombie-type Deck leveraging Rush Duel mechanics to draw until holding five cards per turn. His strategy forces opponents to discard cards, inflicting damage based on the number discarded. Key cards include "Wicked Shadow - Dark Rooker," which removes opponent's Spell/Trap Cards, deals damage, and returns to his hand for reuse. He utilizes defensive tactics by altering monster battle positions, restricting attacks to his lowest-Level monsters, and swapping "Dark Rooker’s" ATK/DEF. His card designs draw inspiration from ghost-related urban legends and death curses.
His sole documented Duel occurs against Luke in Episode 10 ("Behind You!"). There, he uses "Frightening Fan Mail" to force discards and inflict damage, "Nightmare Knock" to destroy Set cards, "Terrorphone Number" to damage opponents during their draw phase, and "It’s Right Behind You!" to Special Summon "Dark Lurker." Though initially overwhelming Luke with his strategies, he ultimately loses the Duel.
