Description
Neo Nakano is one of the main characters in Ichijyoma Mankitsu Gurashi! She is a high school freshman who lives and works at the manga cafe Hedgehog. Standing at only 143 centimeters tall, she has light silver hair and red eyes, and her birthday is November 23.

Her outward manner is ordinarily innocent and sweet, but when she becomes excited or competitive, a much more intense and sometimes darker side emerges. This duality defines much of her personality: she can be adorably childlike one moment and fiercely focused the next. Her small stature often causes the other residents, particularly Meiko, to dote on her, which she tolerates with a mix of embarrassment and amusement.

Neo’s primary motivation is to become a professional gamer. She dedicates herself to gaming day and night, especially first-person shooters, and she has a natural knack for combat-style games. This passion also extends to technology in general: she is highly skilled with computers and serves as the cafe’s de facto IT person, handling all the store’s computer maintenance and troubleshooting.

Within the story, Neo is one of the core residents of Hedgehog, alongside Meiko Morita, Rie Amamiya, and Marika Suzuki. While Meiko is the newcomer who struggles with modern technology, Neo provides the tech-savvy, gaming-oriented energy that helps balance the group. Her relationship with Meiko is particularly warm, as Meiko often fusses over Neo’s small size, and Neo in turn helps Meiko navigate her new life in Tokyo. With Marika, a popular streamer, Neo shares a common interest in gaming, though their approaches differ.

Over the course of the series, Neo shows gradual development as she balances her daily responsibilities at the cafe with her training for professional gaming. While she starts as a highly skilled gamer, she also learns to work with others and open up more, revealing the depth behind her quiet, determined exterior. Her notable abilities include exceptional hand-eye coordination, deep knowledge of computing and networking, and the surprising combat prowess she displays when playing video games or when pushed into real-world situations.
