Description
Hana Sasorijo is a student at the Royal Diana Academy, where she is a member of the coven known as Pandora's Box under the tutelage of Claude Sirius. She is the second daughter of the Sasorijo family, hailing from the Eastern lands and associated with the Scorpio Castle Shrine. In terms of appearance, Hana is a short girl standing at 153cm, with a birthday of October 24th. She has shoulder-length black hair that carries a slight maroon tint, often styled with a braid running from the sides to the back, and her eyes are a dark brown color. Her standard school uniform is complemented by a Scorpio badge worn on the left side of her chest, and her personal wand is black with a layered pattern at its base that resembles a scorpion's tail.
Hana's personality is defined by a stark contrast between her outward demeanor and her inner feelings. To most people, she appears as a very cold, distant, and unfriendly individual with a dark expression. This scary impression is reinforced by her aesthetic preferences, such as decorating her room with skulls and magic circles, as well as her hobby of brewing potions that require animal ingredients like claws. However, this harsh exterior is a defense mechanism born from a traumatic past. As a child in her homeland, where magic is poorly understood, Hana accidentally hurt another child with her poison magic and was subsequently called a monster. This incident left her deeply traumatized and fearful of her own power, leading her to distance herself from others to prevent causing harm again. Consequently, she began rejecting affection and responding with rude comments, while secretly longing for friendship and the chance to play with others.
Her primary motivation stems from this sense of rejection. After the incident where she injured a relative, her family sent her away to attend the Diana Academy, a decision Hana perceived as being abandoned by her own family. This experience fueled her determination to one day master her abilities and gain recognition from her family for her magical powers, proving that she is not the cursed girl they believed her to be.
In the story, Hana initially tries to keep her distance from her classmates, including the protagonist Spica Virgo, whom she first regards as a burden. However, her role changes significantly following a challenging midterm exam in a griffin's nest, where she is forced to cooperate with Spica. This collaboration, which required them to use a combined spell, becomes a turning point that leads to Hana opening up. Spica’s confidence and bright personality help Hana begin to overcome her trauma, and they become close friends. As Hana slowly integrates into the group, she is described as being extremely awkward in social situations due to her long period of isolation, often feeling anxious about fitting in or being boring. Nevertheless, she deeply appreciates being included and begins to value her friendships. Her sharp tongue remains, but it evolves from outright rudeness into a more sarcastic and less hostile form of communication. If someone shows her genuine affection, Hana tends to become intensely loyal and protective, even threatening to poison anyone who would harm her friends.
Hana exhibits significant development throughout the narrative. She transitions from a lonely, self-isolating individual into someone who cherishes her connections with Spica and other students like Io Taurus, Aria Aquarius, and Capella Capricorn. She also begins to suspect that the talking black cat often seen around the school is connected to her teacher, Claude Sirius, hinting at her growing observational skills and engagement with the world around her. A key moment in her arc involves the school festival, where with the help of her friends, she is able to formally reconcile with her mother and sister, resolving the deep-seated family conflict stemming from her childhood.
Hana's notable abilities are rooted in her Scorpio Magic, which grants her the power to create and control various types of poison. She can produce paralyzing agents, corrosive liquids that can melt through fabric, and potent poisons capable of defeating swarms of giant insects. Her control over poison is highly versatile, allowing her to shape it into forms such as stingers or entire scorpions. Her signature spells include Fog Scorpion, which releases a paralyzing poisonous fog; Red Stinger, which creates a scorpion-shaped stinger to inject poison; Octuple Scorpion, a defensive spell that summons eight poison stingers to automatically attack anything that approaches her; and Emperor Scorpion, which is described as her strongest spell, gathering all her magic power to form a massive scorpion. Her own magic grants her a high resistance to poison, allowing her to consume poisonous substances without harm. Hana is also a skilled potion maker, often conducting research and creating various magical concoctions. Furthermore, she can combine her powers with other students to perform Cross Magic, such as with Spica to create a poisonous flower that continuously afflicts a target, or with Aria Aquarius to combine poison with water-based magic.
