Description
Ba Jio is a commander in the Yo Tan Wa Army and a distinguished warrior of the Chouga Tribe, serving as one of the most prominent and loyal followers of the mountain king of Qin. His past is marked by tragedy and isolation, as he was the sole survivor of his tribe following a battle when he was very young. For years afterward, he lived in the wilderness, his survival instincts transforming him into what is described as a beast in human form. During this period, he was known for his feral nature, with accounts of him consuming his kills, which led to a confrontation with Yo Tan Wa as she was on a campaign to unite neighboring tribes. After losing a fight against her, Yo Tan Wa gave him a choice: to die as a beast or to live as her companion. He chose the latter, was accepted into her tribe, and over time, he learned to speak multiple languages and honed his skills to become a powerful warrior.

In terms of personality, Ba Jio is typically very serious and stoic, rarely showing emotion and often hiding his face behind a distinctive mask. He is defined by an unwavering loyalty and obedience to Yo Tan Wa, having been essentially tamed by her authority and strength. Despite his fearsome demeanor, he is noted for having a poor sense of direction. His motivations are almost entirely aligned with those of Yo Tan Wa and, by extension, the faction supporting the Qin king, Ei Sei. He follows his queen's commands without question, whether that involves ambushing soldiers, negotiating with foreign royalty, or joining a desperate battle to defend the state of Qin.

Ba Jio plays a significant role as an elite warrior and key asset in the Yo Tan Wa Army. He was instrumental in the operation to reclaim the Qin throne for Ei Sei, where he fought alongside the protagonist Shin and other mountain warriors. During this mission, he confronted the monstrous bodyguard Rankai and later decapitated the traitorous politician Ketsu Shi, throwing his head into the court to signal the rebels' defeat. Years later, when a massive coalition army invaded Qin, Ba Jio was on a northern campaign against a rival tribe. However, upon receiving Ei Sei's plea for help, he and the rest of the army abandoned their campaign to march to the defense of the city of Sai. Their arrival on the seventh day of battle was so ferocious that they drove the enemy forces away in a matter of hours. In that battle, Ba Jio personally confronted and killed a Zhao general who had been left behind to stall their advance.

His most significant relationship is with Yo Tan Wa, who is not only his commander but also the person who gave his life purpose and direction. He is noted to be one of the few individuals capable of even damaging Yo Tan Wa's mask, a testament to his incredible strength, as no one else could lay a finger on her. This shared history has forged a bond of profound respect and loyalty. His key relationship with the main character, Shin, is that of a comrade-in-arms, as they fought together in the palace corridors to defeat Rankai.

Ba Jio's development is a classic narrative of a feral beast being civilized. He transforms from a wild, murderous child living in the wilderness into a disciplined, civilized, and highly articulate commander who speaks multiple languages. However, he has not completely shed his primal nature; he retains the ability to tap into a "Berserker-like Rage" in combat. This transformation is evident during his first major fight alongside Shin, where he acknowledges that to defeat a powerful enemy, he must "revert to the old days," essentially unleashing his inner beast in a controlled manner.

Notable abilities include his extreme proficiency in combat, particularly with dual swords which he wears at his back. He is known for his swift and seemingly casual attacks that can easily dispatch minor enemies. His true power, however, lies in his berserker mode. When enraged, his already formidable strength and agility increase dramatically, granting him an unpredictable fighting style that incorporates even his bare hands to tear at opponents. This state, which represents his primal "beast" nature, is so potent that his strength stat is noted to have an Alpha modifier, indicating a level beyond the standard scale.
