Description
Kin Mou is a character from the state of Zhao who serves as a general and the loyal deputy to the feared commander Kei Sha, known as the Silent Hunter. He is introduced as a corpulent man with long brown hair, bushy eyebrows, and a goatee, typically seen wearing ornate general's armor marked with round symbols and an X-shaped design on the chest and back.

A deeply loyal and passionate individual, Kin Mou's primary motivation is the protection of Zhao and a sincere desire to bring an end to the ceaseless warfare that plagued the Warring States period. He obeys his master Kei Sha without hesitation and is willing to risk his life for his ideals. Kin Mou holds a particular disdain for what he perceives as immature or inexperienced individuals on the battlefield, a trait that becomes evident when he finds himself opposed by young strategists and soldiers.

Kin Mou's role in the story is first established during the Koku You Campaign arc, where he commands the left part of the center formation for the Zhao forces, clashing with the armies of the cunning Qin general Kan Ki. It is during this battle that his lord, Kei Sha, is defeated and killed by Shin of the Hi Shin Unit. Devastated by this loss, Kin Mou is pushed to the brink of despair and initially advocates for a full retreat. However, he is persuaded by the general Ki Sui to continue the fight, becoming a desperate man fanatically seeking any opportunity to avenge his fallen master.

His primary relationship, therefore, is with his deceased lord Kei Sha, and his actions are heavily defined by this bond of servitude. He also forms a significant adversarial relationship with the Qin's Hi Shin Unit, the group responsible for his master's death. In the later Western Zhao Invasion arc, Kin Mou and his personal army of ten thousand men are deployed to the Shukai Plains. Initially held in reserve at the center under the supreme commander Ri Boku, he is later relocated to the left wing with orders to conceal his troops and ambush the advancing Hi Shin Unit.

Kin Mou demonstrates notable tactical abilities throughout his engagements. He claims to always grasp the flow of a battlefield by observing it from a high vantage point and is skilled in using defensive formations such as the Twin Pills Formation. His strategic mind proves sharp when he identifies the Hi Shin Unit's primary weakness: the young strategist Ka Ryo Ten, who rides conspicuously among their ranks. Recognizing that her presence is the key to their swift reactions, he leads a small, elite unit in a daring personal gambit to assassinate her. His leadership is also effective enough to command the loyalty of his men, who are willing to sacrifice their lives for him.

The character of Kin Mou undergoes a significant, if final, development at the moment of his death. His assassination attempt on Ka Ryo Ten is thwarted by the twin archers Sou Jin and Sou Tan, who grievously wound him with an arrow to the chest and ultimately kill him with a shot through the eye. In his dying moments, he expresses his profound frustration with the endless cycle of war, blaming ambitious states like Qin for perpetuating conflict to chase their dreams. It is only when Ka Ryo Ten responds by vowing that the Hi Shin Unit will inherit his own hopes for peace and carry the dream of ending all wars on their shoulders that he finally understands the source of their strength—the same strength that had previously overcome his master Kei Sha. This realization offers him a measure of respite before his death, as he comes to see that the soldiers who defeated him will also work to fulfill the very dream he fought for. Beyond his tactical mind and leadership, Kin Mou was also a capable front-line fighter, wielding both sword and glaive, and his willpower was demonstrated when he continued to attack even after being fatally wounded by an arrow.
