Description
Hinaki Shinjo is a central character in the Aikatsu! franchise, notably appearing as a member of the idol unit Luminous in the crossover film Aikatsu! x PriPara THE MOVIE -Deai no Kiseki!-. As a third-year middle school student attending Starlight School, she is a pop-type idol whose preferred fashion brand is Vivid Kiss.

Hinaki has a background deeply rooted in the entertainment industry, debuting as a child and building a career that spans over thirteen years, which makes her a veteran among her peers. Her parents, who work at a fashion magazine, supported her early entry into show business. This extensive experience has given her considerable knowledge and a polished ability to handle media and hosting duties. Despite her professionalism, she carries a specific past trauma: during a live performance on a rainy day, she slipped and fell on a wet stage, an accident that caused her to lose consciousness and led to a period of hospitalization. While her injuries were not severe, the incident made her production staff overly protective and caused Hinaki to become cautious, suppressing her own spontaneous ideas in favor of safe, predictable choices to avoid worrying others.

In terms of personality, Hinaki is characterized by her high energy, informality, and sociability, which allows her to quickly bond with others. She has a distinctive way of speaking, often shortening common phrases, and refers to herself as Hina. She is deeply passionate about fashion and gathering information on the latest trends, viewing clothing as a means for everyone to express their individuality. Her central motivation throughout her story is to find her own unique voice and style. This is highlighted by a pivotal event three years prior to the main narrative, when a top designer named Kayoko denied her a Premium Rare dress on the grounds that she merely copied others and lacked a distinct identity. This rejection was devastating and caused her to feel that her idol activities had lost their joy. Her character development focuses on overcoming this insecurity and her past trauma, ultimately reclaiming her authentic self. She achieves this by learning to trust her own instincts and embrace originality, leading Kayoko to finally approve her as the true muse of the Vivid Kiss brand.

Within the story, Hinaki plays a role that balances experience with ongoing personal growth. She forges key relationships that influence her journey. Her friendship with the protagonist, Akari Ozora, is particularly vital; Akari's fresh and uninhibited approach inspires Hinaki to break free from her self-imposed limitations, and the two become fast friends who positively influence each other. She also has a relationship with Juri Kurebayashi, a childhood friend with whom she later forms the unit Passionate Jalapeño. After an initial period of formality, she becomes a close friend and unit-mate with Sumire Hikami, and together with Akari, they form the trio Luminous. For the crossover film, this unit collaborates with the PriPara idols to form the special group SoLaMi Luminas.

Among her notable abilities, Hinaki is a skilled information gatherer and specializes in beauty research. She possesses excellent conversational skills honed from years of television appearances. Her singing voice, distinct from her speaking voice actor, is provided by Miki from the group AIKATSU☆STARS!. As a performer, she has demonstrated resilience, eventually mastering Special Appeals and achieving the runner-up position in the prestigious Starlight Queen Cup.
