Description
Gadhio Latcutt is a member of the original hero party in the anime Roll Over and Die. He is a large man, easily spotted in a crowd, and typically wears a dark brown coat accented with a blue scarf. At the start of the main story, he is thirty-two years old and wields a huge sword in combat.
His personality is defined by patience and a profound sense of guilt. Years before the events of the series, Gadhio formed and led an elite party of A and S-ranked adventurers. A disastrous mission resulted in the death of his wife, Thea, along with most of his friends, leaving him as the sole survivor. This tragic event earned him the derogatory title of "Gadhio the Coward" among some people, and the guilt from that day continues to weigh heavily on him.
As a character, Gadhio serves as a figure of lost potential and quiet responsibility. At one point, he was made the Guild Master for the West Quarter Adventurer's Guild. However, burdened by his past, he did not take the job seriously, which created a power vacuum. This negligence allowed a corrupt individual named Dein Phineas to effectively take control of the West Quarter and engage in nefarious activities. It is only after the events involving the Origin Eyes and Dein's death that Gadhio decides to take his role as Guild Master seriously, hoping to repair the damage he allowed to happen and gain information on the Church of Origin.
Key relationships define much of his role in the story. Unlike other members of the hero's party, Gadhio consistently treated the protagonist, Flum Apricot, with kindness. He patiently taught her how to use a sword, lessons she would later recall and apply in her own fights. When Flum was sold into slavery due to a plot by another party member, Gadhio was unaware of the scheme. Flum initially believed he had betrayed her because she was convinced she was a burden to him, but she was relieved to learn the truth upon their reunion. Outside of Flum, Gadhio maintains a close bond with Hallom Yandoura, the only other survivor of his original party. He also helps raise Hallom's daughter, Kleyna, who sees him as a father figure and affectionately calls him "Daddy," much to his embarrassment.
Despite his size and warrior past, Gadhio's notable abilities extend beyond combat. During the hero party's travels, he took over cooking duties after Flum was removed from the group. While his cooking is decent, it is noted that he cannot match the care and quality of Flum's meals due to his other responsibilities. His most valuable skill, however, is his practical knowledge of swordplay and cursed equipment, which he willingly passes on to those willing to learn, including Flum.
