Description
Kinji Tooyama is a 17-year-old Japanese male student, born July 16, 1991, standing 170 cm tall and weighing 63 kg. He hails from the Tohyama lineage, renowned for producing legendary heroes, with direct relatives including his deceased father Konzou Tohyama, deceased unnamed mother, stepmother, deceased older brother Kinichi Tohyama, younger brother Kinzou Tohyama, half-sister Kaname Tohyama, sister-in-law Patra, and paternal grandparents Magane and Setsu Tohyama. His ancestry traces back to Edo-period police chief Kinshirou Tohyama, cementing the family's historical law enforcement significance.

Raised with childhood visits to Hotogi Shrine, he befriended Shirayuki Hotogi and often escorted her outside, knowingly breaking shrine rules. After his parents' deaths, older brother Kinichi became his guardian. During middle school, female classmates exploited his genetic Hysteria Savant Syndrome (HSS) ability, intentionally triggering it to manipulate him as their "personal ally of justice." This caused lasting trauma, fostering deep distrust of women and aversion to his powers, though he still intervened when classmate Kikuyo Kagataka faced false theft accusations.

He initially enrolled in Tokyo Butei High School's Assault department, achieving S-rank status by single-handedly subduing all entrance exam candidates and instructors. He formed the notable "Golden Duo" partnership with Reki. Following Kinichi's reported death during a Butei Killer incident and subsequent posthumous ridicule, Kinji transferred to the Inquesta department, let his rank drop to E, and planned to quit Butei entirely for a normal life, driven by grief and family scorn.

Physically, he sports wavy black hair, brown eyes, and an average build, typically seen in the Butei High uniform. Post-retirement from active Butei work, he adopts a black three-piece suit. He occasionally crossdresses as "Clomaetel Belmondo," adopting feminine mannerisms during these instances.

His personality reflects cynicism, social withdrawal, and a near-perpetual frown, stemming from his brother's death and public humiliation. He maintains a cold, borderline misogynistic attitude toward women due to past exploitation, actively suppressing emotions—especially romantic feelings—and initially rejecting his heroic lineage. When HSS activates—triggered by sexual arousal like physical contact or kissing—his cognition, strength, speed, and reflexes amplify thirtyfold. This state overrides his personality, making him compulsively protective of women, emotionally expressive, and charismatic. He retains full memory of HSS actions, leading to intense embarrassment afterward. Extreme jealousy or rage can induce a secondary "Hysteria Berserk" state.

Despite his aloof exterior, he possesses a strong sense of justice, preferring non-violent resolutions and refusing to hold grudges. His desire for normalcy is challenged; after briefly transferring to a civilian school, he finds life unfulfilling and returns to Butei High, acknowledging it as his only viable path, though he continues resisting his high-profile legacy.

His primary ability is Hysteria Savant Syndrome, granting superhuman physical and mental capabilities. Combat techniques include "Billiard Shot" (deflecting bullets), "Mirror Shot" (returning fire using an opponent's bullet), "Invisible" (high-speed draw/holster), "Ouka" (supersonic movement), "Slash" (bullet redirection via gloves), and "Bite" (catching projectiles with teeth). Standard equipment includes an illegally modified Beretta 92FS Inox ("Kinji Model"), butterfly knife, Orochi bulletproof gloves, a modified Desert Eagle, and the Ragnarok/Scramasax seax inherited from Sherlock Holmes. His HSS-enabled mastery with these weapons earned him the title "Quadra of Mimicry."

Key relationships shape his development. Aria H. Kanzaki, his partner and primary love interest, easily triggers his HSS; their mutual feelings intensify during missions. They cohabit after she moves into his dorm, and their bond deepens when he gifts her a ring—unaware of its romantic implications. Shirayuki Hotogi, his childhood friend, exhibits extreme devotion, though he initially finds her clingy and violent toward rivals. Riko Mine, a fellow Inquesta student, alternates between manipulating him and aiding investigations, eventually joining his team. Reki remains a trusted ally from their Assault department days. His brother Kinichi eventually reappears—revealed alive and working with antagonist group IU—creating conflict; Kinji defeats him to protect Aria and persuades him to abandon IU.

After resolving the "Butei Killer" case, Far Eastern Warfare conflict, and defeating the Scarlet Blazing Goddess (freeing Aria's mother), he forms Team Baskerville as leader, with Aria as vice-leader and Shirayuki, Riko, and Reki as members. He later establishes the Tohyama Warrior Office to retain his Butei license post-retirement. Ultimately, he steps down from this role to prepare for college entrance exams, signaling gradual acceptance of his capabilities while still pursuing ordinary aspirations.
