Description
Oliver Cardiff is a major character in the anime Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None. He is a nineteen-year-old S-rank explorer of the Nohitant Kingdom and the leader of the Hero's Party, an elite adventuring group also known as the Golden Dawn. He grew up in the same village as Orun Dula, and the two were childhood friends and close partners who founded the Hero Party together. Oliver first became known as the Sword Saint in recognition of his exceptional swordsmanship, and he later earned the title of Hero. He is widely regarded as one of the most talented swordsmen of his generation, and his position at the head of an S-rank party reflects both his combat skill and his reputation among the kingdom's adventurers. He has dark orange hair and lilac eyes.

In the story, Oliver is the figure whose decision sets the protagonist's journey in motion. Despite his long friendship with Orun Dula, he expels Orun from the Hero Party, with fellow members Anneli and Derrick joining in the dismissal. Oliver reaches this decision after concluding that the party needs a stronger enchanter, one comparable in ability to Selma, the most powerful enchanter on the continent, and Orun is replaced in order to meet that need. The expulsion is notable because Oliver acts under altered memories at the time, so his betrayal of his former best friend is framed less as a simple act of malice and more as the result of circumstances that have influenced his judgment.

Oliver's key relationships are defined by this rupture. With Orun, he shares a history as a childhood friend, co-founder of the Hero Party, and former partner, which makes their falling out central to the emotional conflict of the series. Within the Hero Party, he works alongside Anneli and Derrick, who support his decision to remove Orun. His actions also connect him to the wider adventuring world of the Nohitant Kingdom, since his pursuit of greater enchantment strength ties the party to powerful figures such as Selma and her circle.

In terms of development, the series presents Oliver as a character whose current actions are complicated by his altered memories and by the closeness he once shared with the protagonist. His prestige as the Hero and former Sword Saint stands in contrast to the role he plays in Orun's downfall, and his story largely revolves around the consequences of that choice and the possibility of reconciliation with the friend he cast out.

Oliver's defining ability is his swordsmanship, which earned him the title of Sword Saint before he became known as the Hero. As the leader of an S-rank party, he operates at a very high level of combat capability, and his reputation as one of the most talented sword users of his generation supports his standing as a central figure among the kingdom's adventurers.
