TV-Series
Description
Alvitr is the tenth of the thirteen Valkyrie sisters who participate in Ragnarok. Her most significant role is performing Völundr with the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang during the seventh round of the tournament against the god Hades.
In terms of appearance, Alvitr is a young woman of short stature with a slender build. She has long, light red hair which she typically wears tied up in curly, braided buns. Her outfit consists of a low-cut dress with short sleeves and a short skirt. She wears mismatched stockings, with a long dark blue or black stocking covering her right leg and a shorter one on her left leg, paired with black heeled shoes. A kokoshnik-style tiara with a triangular pattern adorns her head.
Alvitr has a fiery and aggressive personality, much like her sister Hlökk. She becomes easily irritated and is not afraid to voice her complaints, as seen when she angrily confronts Qin Shi Huang for making an unorthodox entrance into the arena from the gods' VIP section and for never having practiced their Völundr technique with her beforehand. Despite her abrasive and irritable nature, she is also easily charmed. Her attitude toward Qin Shi Huang softens significantly when he picks her up, causing her heart to throb and leading her to declare the situation unfair, which ultimately allows their Völundr to take place. As the fight progresses, she reveals a kinder and more encouraging side, particularly when she urges the emperor to stop being meek and to declare his desire to win with the authority and confidence befitting a king. She is impressed by his resilience, such as when he bears the excruciating pain of a severe shoulder injury without complaint.
Alvitr's primary motivation is to fulfill her duty as a Valkyrie by helping humanity secure a victory against the gods. Her personal investment grows as she develops a bond with her partner, Qin Shi Huang, shifting from frustration with his uncooperative attitude to a deep, trusting partnership where she is willing to risk everything for their shared success.
The central relationship in her story is with Qin Shi Huang. Their partnership begins poorly due to a lack of communication and practice, but it quickly evolves as Alvitr becomes charmed by his demeanor. Throughout the intense battle against Hades, she moves from being a reluctant participant to a staunch ally who stands by him, believing in his unorthodox strategies even when they seem impossible. She shares a deep connection with him through their Völundr, meaning she physically experiences the same injuries he sustains in battle.
Her role in the story is almost entirely within the seventh round of Ragnarok. She is first seen with her sisters, answering Brunhilde's call to assist humanity. During the seventh round, she becomes Qin Shi Huang's divine weapon. After being pushed to the brink by Hades, Qin Shi Huang asks her to trust him, and she agrees, providing him with all her power. This act of complete trust allows for a Völundr Re-Cast, transforming her defensive armor form into an offensive sword. After their hard-won victory, Alvitr is seen in a critical condition, recovering in a medical pod alongside her human partner.
In terms of development, Alvitr undergoes a clear change from an irritated, doubtful Valkyrie to a supportive and trusting partner. Her initial frustration at Qin Shi Huang's arrogance gives way to admiration for his strength and character. Her ultimate decision to devote all her power to him, despite the immense risk, marks her full acceptance of their shared fate and her growth into a courageous and loyal ally.
Alvitr possesses several notable abilities inherent to her divine nature. As a demigod, she has a semi-immortal, limitless lifespan and does not age. Her divine physiology grants her physical abilities far beyond those of an ordinary human, and her body cannot be harmed by mortal weapons, though she remains vulnerable to superhuman strength and divine weapons. She also possesses the power of Common Destiny, which allows her to entrust her fate to another person, enabling them to bring out their full potential and giving her human partner the ability to harm gods. Her signature ability is Völundr, the power to transform into a divine weapon based on her partner's preference. With Qin Shi Huang, she becomes the Almighty Spaulders, a form of armor covering his arms and shoulders. The unique property of her Völundr, reflected in the meaning of her name as Host-Guard or Defender of the Armies, is that it provides immense defensive strength. However, when she decides to devote all her power to her user, this defensive Völundr can be Re-Cast into an offensive weapon, which Qin Shi Huang uses to create the First Emperor's Goujian Sword.
