Description
Haruomi Sone is a twenty-five-year-old deserter from the covert organization known as Tactics. Standing at 185 centimeters tall with a blood type of A negative, he carries a dark past as a former operative who carried out missions as a hitman. His birthday is April 30, and his personal tastes include a liking for age-pan, a type of deep-fried bread, while he holds a well-documented dislike for curry. This aversion to curry is not superficial; it is tied directly to his traumatic memories of carrying out assassinations for Tactics.
Haruomi's personality is characterized by a profound sense of guilt and self-loathing, stemming directly from the lives he has taken. He deeply cares for his partner Digimon, Commandramon, and his primary motivation for defecting from Tactics was to free Commandramon from the mental toll and suffering caused by their violent life together. He believes that he alone should bear the burden of their shared sins and does not initially believe that he himself deserves freedom or happiness. This is evident in his self-sacrificing behavior, where he often acts in ways that he believes will make others hate him, reflecting his own self-perception as someone beyond redemption. Despite his hardened past, he is portrayed as a fundamentally good and cool-headed individual who seeks a quiet life away from violence.
Haruomi enters the story as a fugitive, having deserted Tactics with his partner Commandramon. He is first encountered by the Glowing Dawn group after collapsing from hunger, a situation that highlights his desperate state as a runaway. Tactics issues an ultimatum for his surrender, leading to a conflict where Commandramon is taken captive. In a final act of sacrifice, Haruomi sends Commandramon to safety with the Glowing Dawn members while allowing himself to be captured by his former employers, demonstrating his commitment to his partner's freedom above his own.
After his capture, Haruomi is taken to an illegal underground colosseum. Separated from Commandramon, he is forced to fight alongside a stray Digimon named Elizamon. This situation becomes deeply ironic and torturous for Haruomi, as he eventually recognizes Elizamon as the former partner of an unnamed man he was ordered to kill during his time with Tactics. The pink-colored curry that Elizamon cooks, a signature dish from her previous owner, triggers Haruomi's traumatic memories of the assassination. Despite this horrifying revelation, Elizamon chooses to save Haruomi and becomes his partner, forgiving him because she recognizes the good person within him.
His key relationships are primarily defined by his two partner Digimon. Commandramon is his original partner, a Digimon modified with a special texture on its skin that allows it to display various camouflage patterns. Commandramon dislikes fighting, a trait that likely contributed to Haruomi's desire to escape Tactics, and the Digimon suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of their shared past. The bond between them is that of a parent and child, with Haruomi acting as a father figure. Elizamon becomes his second partner, a reptile-type Digimon characterized by its soft, cloth-like collar and a sassy, demanding personality. She calls Haruomi "darling" and develops an interest in him, leading to a rivalry with the jealous Commandramon for his affections.
Throughout his arc, Haruomi undergoes significant development, moving from a self-loathing hitman who sees no future for himself to a man tentatively accepting a chance at a normal life. After being rescued from the colosseum, he eventually finds a measure of peace by moving to a new district and starting a career as a cook. In a symbolic act of accepting his past, he begins selling fried curry bread, a fusion of his favorite food and the dish that represents his darkest memories. This role as a single "parent" to two Digimon, Commandramon and Elizamon, forms his new life, one that stands in stark contrast to his previous existence as an assassin. His notable abilities are derived from his time as a Tactics operative, where he was a talented and effective hitman. As a human partner, he is able to channel his E-pulse into the Sapotama Digivices belonging to both Commandramon and Elizamon, and it is confirmed that a single person can possess and support two Sapotamas simultaneously.
