Description
Chosuke Nakamoto works as a detective in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Modern Crime Prevention Task Force. He appears as an aged man with gray hair styled in a slight undercut, gray eyebrows, and gentle brown eyes usually covered by glasses. Light stubble often shades his face, and his slightly hunched posture reinforces his veteran demeanor. His typical outfit includes a dress shirt with a navy-blue tie, beige suit pants, a matching jacket worn open, and brown Oxford shoes. He frequently smokes cigarettes during work.

Previously assigned to the First Investigation Division, he transferred after failing to solve the murder of Sayuri Kambe. This unsolved case haunted his career and led to his reassignment. Within the task force, colleague Haru Kato deeply respects him, particularly admiring his interrogation techniques and experience. Kato cites his methods as a contrast to Daisuke Kambe's dependence on wealth during investigations.

Nakamoto blends apparent wisdom and sympathy with pragmatic manipulation. During interrogations, he strategically applies emotional pressure to secure confessions—such as invoking a suspect's worry for their struggling single mother to compel cooperation. This reflects his preference for psychological tactics over brute force or monetary incentives. His focus on the Kambe family's ties to unresolved cases, especially Sayuri Kambe’s death, fuels tension with Daisuke Kambe. He actively probes connections between the Kambe conglomerate and criminal activities, including pressuring suspects without lawyers and accessing restricted files—actions drawing superior criticism over procedural breaches.

His dedication to the Sayuri Kambe case escalates into a consuming fixation over time. Despite warnings from colleagues like Yukihiro Kiyomizu about the dangers of obsession near retirement, he persists in uncovering the Kambe family’s secrets. This pursuit culminates in his death alongside Katsuhiro Takei during a confrontation tied to the case. They were murdered while investigating Daisuke Kambe’s father, Shigemaru Kambe, whom they discovered faked his suicide and remained embroiled in crimes linked to the unsolved murder. His death profoundly impacts the task force, driving Kato and Kiyomizu to pursue his killers.
