Description
Ayame Hazakura is a central character in the anime Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring, where she serves as the dedicated bodyguard to her twin sister, Ruri Hazakura, the Agent of Summer. She is depicted as a young woman, around eighteen to nineteen years old, with long, braided greenish-black hair and yellow eyes. While she and her sister are twins and bear a strong resemblance to one another, they are easily told apart by their hairstyles and contrasting personalities.

In terms of character, Ayame is calm, meticulous, and very polite, especially when compared to her sister Ruri, who is bright, lively, and more impulsive. This composed and collected demeanor defines her role as a guardian. Ayame is highly responsible and takes her duties seriously, acting as a stabilizing force for the more rambunctious Agent of Summer.

A primary motivation for Ayame, and a key source of drama in the story, is her personal future. She is engaged to be married to a man named Rho Renly, a circumstance that leads her to plan to step down from her position as a bodyguard after her wedding. This decision puts her at odds with her sister, as Ruri deeply resents the idea of Ayame leaving her side and goes on strike upon learning that Ayame had hidden this plan from her. This conflict between duty to her family and her own desires for the future is a central part of her personal journey. Her motivation is not one of abandonment but stems from a desire to build a new chapter in her life while still wishing for her sister's happiness.

Her role in the narrative is initially defined by her position as the Guard of Summer, charged with protecting the agent who brings the season to the land. In this capacity, she guides other characters, such as the Agent and Guard of Spring, when they arrive at the detached palace. The early part of her story focuses heavily on the strained relationship with her sister, forcing her to navigate her professional duties alongside a deeply personal family crisis. She is very embarrassed by the situation and the conflict it causes, showing her earnest and somewhat reserved nature.

Her most significant relationship is undoubtedly with her master and twin sister, Ruri. The two share a deep bond that is tested by Ayame's impending marriage and departure. While she has been swayed by Ruri's whims since they were young, Ayame's primary wish is for her younger sister's happiness, even as her own choices cause a rift between them. Other key relationships include her fiancé, Rho Renly, and her future brother-in-law and colleague, Raicho Kimikage. She also interacts with the other seasonal agents and their bodyguards as colleagues in their divine mission.

Throughout the story, Ayame undergoes development as she reconciles her sense of duty as a bodyguard with her personal aspirations. The conflict with her sister forces her to confront the consequences of prioritizing her own life choices and to work towards healing the bond between them. Her arc involves moving from a position of hiding her plans to openly addressing the future with her twin, culminating in a reconciliation where Ruri apologizes first, allowing them to move forward.

Regarding her abilities, Ayame is physically adept and possesses notable athletic prowess. Her specialty is running, and it is said that she has the talent to compete at the level of a professional athlete. As a bodyguard, she is also presumably skilled in combat and protective duties, trained to defend the Agent of Summer. Her character design often includes a katana, indicating her proficiency with a blade. She also has a notable appetite, particularly enjoying donburi (rice bowl dishes) and salmon roe, and she has expressed a desire to eat to her heart's content at a buffet. Her name, Ayame, is the Japanese word for the iris flower.
