Description
Kyōhei Arisugawa is a male university student whose only claim to fame is that he is the cousin of the hugely popular male celebrity Ren Arisugawa. Growing up, the two were close, but they lost contact for years until Ren unexpectedly appears at Kyōhei’s rundown apartment one night seeking to escape the pressures of fame. Kyōhei’s ordinary, somewhat directionless life is upended when he accidentally discovers that Ren is in fact a girl—a secret that could shake the entertainment industry. Despite his initial carelessness and lack of tact, Kyōhei has a fundamentally kind nature. After learning the truth, he is pressed into service as Ren’s personal assistant, helping to maintain her public facade while navigating the complicated new dynamic between them. His motivation is largely shaped by a mix of protectiveness, curiosity, and the growing bond that develops as he spends more time with her. Throughout the story, Kyōhei gradually matures, learning to be more considerate and responsible as he shoulders the weight of Ren’s secret and becomes more deeply involved in her world. His relationship with Ren evolves from distant cousins to a more intimate and emotionally charged partnership, and he also interacts with other key figures such as Ren’s manager and her colleagues in the entertainment industry. Kyōhei does not possess any special skills or supernatural abilities; his main asset is his grounded, relatable nature, which allows him to serve as the audience’s entry point into a story of hidden identities and unexpected romance.
