Description
Yoichi Himukai serves as a Judge in the Magic Law Association and shares a deep childhood bond with Toru Muhyo and Soratsugu Madoka (Enchu). He attended Magic Law School alongside Muhyo, Enchu, and Yu Abiko (Biko), learning under instructors Rio Kurotori and Page Klaus. During his student years, Yoichi maintained average grades, frequently relying on Enchu for academic help while preferring recreational activities over Enchu's studious dedication. He cherished his friendships with Muhyo, Enchu, and Biko profoundly but failed to perceive Enchu's growing despair before his turn to forbidden magic, a failure that troubled Yoichi for years.
Physically, Yoichi possesses shoulder-length black hair and gray eyes with black pupils, typically wearing a headband. His standard attire consists of a red or white shirt with black pants, shifting to a black sweater and earmuffs in winter. Personality-wise, he exhibits a strong womanizing tendency, often groping women—especially Nana Takenouchi—and claiming the ability to discern bra sizes through touch. Despite this behavior, he remains popular among female students, earning the nickname "Prince of Magic Law" for his professional skill. He holds a crush on Nana, though she finds him off-putting. Beneath his lecherous exterior lies sharp strategic insight, experience rivaling Muhyo's, and intense focus during critical moments. His own skills saw significant improvement after Muhyo's talents emerged, driving Yoichi to enhance his capabilities.
Yoichi demonstrates mastery in all branches of magical law except execution, employing diverse techniques like Spirit Sweep, Triple Magic Binding Spell, Dark Magic Reflect Spell, and Kiln of Blasting. His defensive expertise includes the formidable Six Direction Barrier Circle (Roppou Reika: Kekkai no Jin). He also utilizes tools such as a magic-sealing pen for anti-ghister seals and a Seven-Form-Staff to petrify spirits.
His story involvement is extensive. Following Enchu's fall, Yoichi spent two years investigating his whereabouts with Page Klaus's aid. He later encountered Muhyo and Roji at Magic Law School during a panic curse incident engineered by Enchu; infected first, Yoichi unintentionally spread the curse. He subsequently counseled Roji about his past with Muhyo and Enchu, revealing his lingering pain over not being chosen as Muhyo's partner. When Rio Kurotori faced treason accusations, Yoichi investigated her burned home, discovered her diary detailing her turn to forbidden magic, and intervened during a confrontation at the magic prison to protect Biko from Rio's attacks. He led the team during the Writ of Passage mission with Isabi. His most pivotal role occurred during the Magic Law School invasion, where he devised last-minute strategies defeating Buhpu and Enchu's puppets. By summoning Hellsquitos to expose the Cortlaw family's crimes, he proved to Enchu that redemption was achievable as a Judge, not an executor. Though heartbroken when Enchu accepted indefinite imprisonment in the Arcanum, Yoichi continued striving for Muhyo's acknowledgment as a potential partner.
