Description
Teeki, originally Edward Teek, was cast out by the Magical Law Association, an event that embittered him and fueled a vow of vengeance. He achieved effective immortality through a discovered resurrection method, returning repeatedly over centuries. Historical records blame him for large-scale atrocities: causing Mount Fuji to erupt, releasing 100,000 evil spirits on Kyoto, and making the entire Taira army vanish. This longevity fueled his persistent campaign against the Association.
As a key member of the forbidden magic group Ark, Teeki served as Enchu's lieutenant and primary manipulator. He observed Muhyo and Enchu in their youth, anticipating their rivalry would amplify their powers for his exploitation. To push Enchu toward darkness, Teeki murdered Enchu's sick mother and used her body for his own resurrection, then taught Enchu forbidden magical law, cementing Enchu's turn against the Association. Similarly, Teeki orchestrated Rio's descent by sending a spirit to kill her mother, aware her prior pleas for help had been refused by corrupt practitioners, aiming to recruit her into Ark by exploiting her trauma and resentment.
Teeki's personality is dominated by hatred for the Association, often triggering homicidal urges and loss of control upon encountering its members. He exhibits sadistic tendencies, openly reveling in destruction and chaos, like setting the Arcanum prison ablaze and laughing at the resulting suffering. Despite this, he displays strategic patience in long-term schemes spanning decades or centuries, such as manipulating potential assets like Muhyo and Enchu from childhood. His alliance with Enchu ultimately serves his personal vendetta, not any shared ideology.
Physically, Teeki conceals himself under fur clothing and a distinctive wooden mask featuring four eyes and a large nose. His gloves bear the mark of forbidden magic law. His true nature remains ambiguous—potentially a spirit, an immortal human practitioner, or something else entirely. The Association had marked him as a significant threat for approximately 800 years prior to the main events. In combat, he demonstrates considerable power, battling formidable opponents like Isabi to a standstill.
Beyond manipulation, Teeki engages in direct antagonism, orchestrating events like the Arcanum fire during Sophie's escape and attempting to eliminate Muhyo's group. His survival beyond the Enchu conflict positions him as an enduring threat, with later narratives confirming his continued scheming despite setbacks, establishing him as a recurring source of instability within the magical world.
