Movie
Description
Mitsuki Izumi is a member of the idol group IDOLiSH7 and serves as its cheerful mood-maker and de facto older brother figure. He has short peach-colored hair and amber-colored eyes, and he is the shortest member of the group. His family runs a bakery named Fonte Chocolat, and he grew up alongside his younger brother, Iori Izumi.
Mitsuki has wanted to become an idol since childhood, inspired by a visit from the legendary idol ZERO to his family’s bakery. He holds this dream close throughout his life and is deeply determined to succeed as an idol. However, his path was not easy. He experienced many failed auditions, often attributed to his short stature, and developed feelings of self-consciousness and insecurity as a result. He also struggled with a complex about his younger brother Iori, who seemed to achieve everything effortlessly. A quarrel broke out between the brothers when Iori suggested Mitsuki market himself as cute to succeed, advice that Mitsuki rejected because it did not feel true to who he was. Mitsuki later initiated the apology and reconciled with Iori.
Mitsuki joined IDOLiSH7 under unusual circumstances. Iori was scouted by the agency president Otoharu Takanashi, but only accepted the offer on the condition that Mitsuki would be allowed to audition as well. Although Mitsuki initially thought it was a trick, he eventually agreed after the president met with their parents. While the initial reason for his inclusion was Iori’s demand, the president later made it clear that he genuinely saw Mitsuki’s talent and would not have accepted him otherwise.
Within the group, Mitsuki is consistently energetic, optimistic, and caring. He takes on a nurturing role, cooking meals for the other members and looking after them like an older brother. He is especially close to Iori, and the two brothers usually resolve their disagreements with Mitsuki making the first move to make amends. Mitsuki often acts as the straight man or tsukkomi in comedic exchanges, particularly with his sub-unit partners Yamato Nikaido and Nagi Rokuya. He also works well alongside the senior idol Momo when serving as an MC together, with both of them intentionally playing up their dynamic for the audience.
Despite his lively outward personality, Mitsuki is self-conscious at heart and struggles with a lack of self-love. He is aware of his relatively lower popularity among fans and has heard comments that his role as the group's main speaker comes across as annoying. Over time, however, he receives genuine recognition for his skills from industry professionals, which often moves him to tears. His MC abilities are widely respected, and he is regarded as one of the most capable emcees in the industry.
Mitsuki is protective of his teammates and has demonstrated physical bravery, once standing up to bullies alone and getting injured in the process. He is a strong swimmer and once saved Nagi and Riku from drowning in the ocean. He is also resourceful and uses his youthful appearance to his advantage in certain situations, though not always successfully. He has a poor sense of direction but tends to walk forward confidently even when lost. He admits he is not good with heights but does stretching exercises in an effort to grow taller.
Over the course of the story, Mitsuki’s development revolves around reconciling his cheerful public persona with his private insecurities. He gradually learns to recognize his own value and to accept that his role as an idol is justified not because of his brother’s intervention, but because of his own talent and perseverance. He remains a central emotional anchor for IDOLiSH7, providing warmth and stability while also growing more confident in his own abilities.
