Description
Gilbert Busch is a young treasure hunter who appears in the anime Let This Grieving Soul Retire!. He is fifteen years old and holds a hunter rank of level four, an impressive status for someone his age.

His background is that of a prodigious swordsman who possesses a powerful treasure tool known as the Purgatory Sword. After forming the rookie party Crimson Flame, he managed to reach level four in just over six months of activity. This rapid rise earned him significant attention and the label of being part of the second wave of the golden generation. However, his talent became a point of friction, as the other members of his original party could not keep pace with his growth, leading him to leave the group in search of a more suitable high-level environment.

In terms of personality, Gilbert demonstrates a level of self-assuredness and ambition that aligns with his recognized talent. This is most directly shown during a recruitment event held by the powerful clan Footprints of the Beginning, led by Krai Andrey. There, Gilbert boldly proclaimed to Krai that he would consider joining the party if Krai bowed his head to him. This overconfident attitude is swiftly challenged by another character, Tino Shade, who soundly defeats him in a finger snap contest.

His role in the story is initially that of a promising newcomer seeking to join a top-tier clan. His actions create a situation that highlights the dynamics and hierarchies within the hunter community. A key relationship is formed during this recruitment attempt, particularly his interactions with Krai and Tino. His journey takes a significant turn after a mission to the Den of the White Wolf. Upon returning from this dangerous expedition, Gilbert undergoes a notable development. He entrusts his valuable Purgatory Sword to Krai for safekeeping and, in a gesture of humility, bows his head. He expresses his wish to return to his original party, Crimson Flame, showing a newly developed sense of perspective and perhaps an understanding of the value of his former companions. His notable ability centers on his swordsmanship and the effective use of his powerful treasure tool, which marks him as a hunter to watch.
