In *Digimon Adventure*, Devimon serves as the first major antagonist, created by Apocalymon to enslave File Island. It controls Digimon using Black Gears, corrupting them into servitude, enhancing their size and strength, and utilizing them as surveillance tools. These gears also fracture File Island's geography, splitting it apart from Infinity Mountain. Devimon orchestrates attacks on the DigiDestined through possessed Digimon like Leomon and Ogremon, specifically aiming to prevent Takeru Takaishi and Patamon from achieving Champion-level Digivolution due to a prophecy foretelling its downfall.
