Devimon, a Fallen Angel Digimon corrupted from the Angemon species, was lured to the Dark Side by DemiDevimon and cast into the Dark Area. This corruption manifested as the Mark of Evil on its chest, imbuing it with cunning cruelty and high intelligence. Its deep crimson eyes possess the power to mind-control those meeting its gaze. In *Digimon Adventure*, Devimon serves as the first major antagonist, created by Apocalymon to enslave File Island. It controls Digimon using Black Gears, corrupting them into servitude, enhancing their size and strength, and utilizing them as surveillance tools. These gears also fracture File Island's geography, splitting it apart from Infinity Mountain. Devimon orchestrates attacks on the DigiDestined through possessed Digimon like Leomon and Ogremon, specifically aiming to prevent Takeru Takaishi and Patamon from achieving Champion-level Digivolution due to a prophecy foretelling its downfall. After isolating the children by fragmenting the island, Devimon absorbs numerous Black Gears and Ogremon to achieve colossal size, overpowering the DigiDestined's Champion-level Digimon. It is ultimately destroyed by Angemon's self-sacrificing "Hand of Fate." Devimon's final warning hints at greater threats, declaring that darkness cannot be controlled. In *Digimon Adventure 02*, Millenniummon revives Devimon. It later appears in Devimon's Cave holding Koushiro Izumi and Mimi Tachikawa hostage before defeat by Ryo Akiyama. Three years later, the Digimon Emperor harvests Devimon's residual data for Kimeramon's construction, but Devimon's lingering influence causes Kimeramon to rebel. This data is permanently destroyed when Magnamon deletes Kimeramon. Devimon is resurrected by Ordinemon alongside Vilemon to battle MagnaAngemon, though the outcome remains unresolved. In the *Digimon Adventure* reboot (*Digimon Adventure:*), Devimon commands Dark Digimon and uses Soundbirdmon to control wild Digimon. It evolves into NeoDevimon during battles against the DigiDestined, drawing power from a network obelisk until its destruction weakens it. Dark Knightmon then forces NeoDevimon's evolution into DoneDevimon using Moon Millenniumon's power, driving it berserk. DoneDevimon corrupts Tai Kamiya and MetalGreymon, triggering a dark evolution into Mugendramon, before being destroyed by WarGreymon. Inside Sephirothmon, Devimon is revealed as Angemon's shadow, born when Angemon was trapped in miasma. This version is intrinsically linked to Angemon, reviving as long as Angemon exists. After taunting Takeru and Patamon, Angemon absorbs Devimon back into itself to evolve into HolyAngemon, with Devimon's consciousness persisting in HolyAngemon's left arm. Devimon later manifests from Seraphimon's arm during the battle against Abbadomon, acknowledging the "miracle of hope" before vanishing. In other media, Devimon appears in *Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer*, where Ryo Akiyama rescues Takeru and Patamon from it. In *Digimon Tamers: Digimon Medley*, it is a boss character commanding Leomon and Ogremon as minions. In *Digimon Xros Wars*, NeoMyotismon Force DigiXroses Devimon and LadyDevimon to achieve Darkness Mode. Video games like *Digimon World* and *Digimon World: Next Order* feature Devimon as a recruitable character or enemy, with evolution paths including Myotismon, SkullMeramon, and Lucemon Chaos Mode. Devimon's abilities include "Death Claw" (extending its arms to pierce or brainwash opponents), "Laser Wing" (firing beams from its wings), "Hell Contract" (summoning cursed energy or contracts), "Deadly Nail" (scratching with its claws), and "Death Hand" (releasing blasts of dark energy). Under Black Gear influence, it can grow to gigantic proportions.
