Michael, whose full alias appears as Mikieru Kamei, is a being from Earth who resembles an angel. He appears as an adult male with very long blonde or yellow hair that reaches past his hips and blue eyes, and is often depicted wearing robes and a bracelet while barefoot. He serves as the guide during the reincarnation process of the protagonist, Ryo Mihara. When Ryo dies in an accident at the age of twenty, Michael meets him and explains that he has been chosen to be reborn in another world called Phi, where he is to live simply and as he pleases. Michael is responsible for granting Ryo water-attribute magic and a house in the Forest of Rondo, and he also reveals that Ryo has been given a rare hidden trait called Eternal Youth, which halts his physical aging. Michael is characterized as caring but somewhat forgetful, as he omits key information during the initial briefing, such as the fact that Ryo has been granted agelessness. He describes the world of Phi as something like a barrier, clarifying that the encounter is not set in the afterlife. His role in the story is primarily that of a facilitator for the protagonist's entry into the new world, and he does not accompany Ryo on his journey beyond that point.
