ChaO is the mermaid princess and titular character of the anime film from acclaimedJapanese animation house Studio 4°C. She is the daughter of King Neptunus, the ruler of the ocean, and becomes the unlikely bride of a human shipbuilding engineer named Stephan. Her full name is given as Ao Soni Chao Neptunus, though she is almost exclusively called by her nickname, ChaO.
