Description
Aira Shiratori is a student at the same high school as Momo Ayase and Okarun, and she initially presents herself as the most popular and attractive girl in the school. She is known for her distinctive short pink hair, which she takes great pride in, and she is acutely aware of her own beauty. Underneath this sweet and innocent public facade lies a more arrogant, vain, and vicious personality. Aira relishes the attention she receives from her peers, believing her mere presence is a gift to them, but she is not above using her popularity as a weapon. This is demonstrated when she spreads a nasty, false rumor about Momo as an act of revenge for a public humiliation.
Aira's life takes a dramatic turn when she comes into contact with one of Okarun's golden balls, an object that reawakens her latent ability to see spirits and yokai. Mistaking her newfound spiritual awareness and her own beauty as a divine sign, she develops a delusional, chuunibyou-like personality, believing she is a chosen warrior destined to protect the world from evil. She specifically identifies Momo as a demon due to her psychic powers, setting herself up as a rival.
Her misguided crusade leads her into a confrontation with the Acrobatic Silky, a tragic yokai who has been watching over Aira since childhood, mistaking her for her own lost daughter. During this encounter, Aira is killed, but the Acrobatic Silky sacrifices her own spiritual aura to revive her. This selfless act allows Aira to witness the yokai's heartbreaking memories, which fundamentally changes her perspective. Following her revival, Aira inherits the powers of the Acrobatic Silky. She becomes a genuine ally to Momo and Okarun, publicly confessing to the rumors she spread and accepting the social consequences as the first step in her redemption.
As the series progresses, Aira evolves from a self-centered bully into a reliable and integral member of the main group, often taking on the role of a leader in battle. She develops a strong, though ultimately unrequited, romantic crush on Okarun, which she awkwardly tries to act upon. Despite her lingering bossy tendencies, she becomes fiercely protective of her friends and is known for her courage and refusal to give up, even when facing overwhelming odds.
In terms of abilities, Aira can tap into the spiritual power of the Acrobatic Silky, which transforms her appearance. In this form, her hair grows to incredible lengths, which she can freely manipulate for offense, defense, and mobility. Her primary physical attributes become extraordinary agility, speed, and acrobatic prowess, allowing her to perform flips, run along walls, and evade attacks with grace. She also gains enhanced lower leg strength, enabling her to deliver powerful kicks in close combat. As she continues to fight alongside her friends, she hones these powers further, learning to utilize concepts like Spiral Power and the Power of Words to perform advanced techniques, such as the Pirouette Noble Drill, which encases her in a drill made of her own hair to pierce through enemies.
