Description
Kana, also known as Yeo Goseng, is a Regular and a Light Bearer who becomes a member of Team Tangsooyook. She is easily recognized by her distinctive appearance, which includes large round glasses that cover half of her face and her hair, which she typically ties back in a ponytail. Her introduction occurs during the screening test on the 20th Floor, where she enters the testing room and immediately shows her protective nature by intervening to shield the younger Yeo Miseng from an attack.
Goseng shares the family name Yeo with Miseng and they belong to the same generation, confirming they are from the same lineage, though the author has clarified they are not sisters. Instead, she acts as a guardian and older sister figure to Miseng, consistently shielding her from danger and offering comfort. This responsibility extends to the rest of her team, as she generally adopts a mature and responsible attitude in group situations.
Her personality is defined by a sense of protectiveness, a calm demeanor, and a realistic outlook. While her teammate Ja Wangnan is often impulsive, Goseng is more cautious and determined in her approach to tests. She is also one of the more perceptive members of the group; upon first meeting Jyu Viole Grace, she was the only person present to notice the symbol of the criminal organization FUG on his coat, recognizing him as a potential threat. Despite her sharpness, she has a gentle side and occasionally expresses a wish for her team to abandon the dangerous climb up the Tower and simply live together in peace, a sentiment that contrasts with the group's ambitious goals but highlights her desire for stability and safety for her companions.
Within Team Tangsooyook, Goseng holds the position of Light Bearer, a support role that involves using Lighthouses to control the battlefield, gather information, and restrict enemy movements. Her specialty is Lighthouse Flow Control, which allows her to operate at least four Lighthouses simultaneously with great skill. Her known technique is called Centripetal Pressure Control, where she positions one Lighthouse in the center, surrounded by three others, to create a manipulation field that can immobilize multiple weaker enemies at once. She is noted to be a more skilled Light Bearer than her teammate Prince.
During the Workshop Battle on the 30th Floor, Goseng participates in the Plug competition. When she opens the door to her match, she is immediately startled by the intensity of the fighting, but her teammate Kang Horyang protects her from an attacking Regular. This event underscores the developing bond between them, which becomes more apparent as the arc progresses. This connection is solidified at the after-party following the Workshop Battle, where the two share a dance. During this private moment, Horyang confides in her about his personal doubts and the unsettling possibility that his past might be built on lies. The growing affection between them is also noticeable to other combatants, such as Chang Blarode, who comments on Horyang's protective behavior toward her during the battle.
One of the most significant moments for Goseng occurs after the Workshop Battle concludes. Cassano, a crucial figure from Horyang's past, steals the devil fragment from inside Horyang, an act that leaves Horyang in a deep coma. Faced with this crisis, Goseng makes the difficult decision to stay behind on the 30th Floor to care for the comatose Horyang while the rest of their team, including Viole, Wangnan, and Miseng, continue climbing the Tower. She selectively informs only the core members about the true severity of Horyang's condition to prevent the others from worrying unnecessarily, demonstrating her loyalty, sense of responsibility, and her prioritizing of her personal commitment over the group's forward progress.
