Description
Guinness is a young man belonging to the Sheep Eyes tribe, a race known for distinct ovine traits which he carries with pride. Residing in the kingdom of Schwertland, he serves as a librettist and strategic planner for the Band of the Sword, a group of justice-sworn swordfighters. Despite possessing a brilliant strategic mind, Guinness is initially defined by his timid and easily-influenced nature, which prevents him from fully utilizing his talents and leads him to propose overly cautious tactics. His character arc centers on overcoming this deep-seated insecurity.

A significant turning point in Guinness’s life occurs during a decisive battle, where he receives harsh but necessary encouragement from a character named Mist, as well as refined tactical teachings from a mentor named Jinbuck. These experiences unlock his latent genius, allowing him to emerge as a highly capable strategist, despite the battle resulting in heavy sacrifices for his allies. Through this trial, he earns a reputation as a prodigy among librettists. The death of his mentor, Jinbuck, profoundly affects him, as he inherits Jinbuck’s conductor sword. This inheritance marks his growth into an extraordinary conductor and leader, taking on new responsibilities and deepening his bonds with his comrades.

His motivations evolve beyond mere tactical success. After these dramatic events, Guinness becomes driven by a higher ideal: to find a way for people to live freely, unbound by the chains of divinity. He begins to critically examine the foundational laws of his world, particularly the system that expects the forces of good to sacrifice their lives in an endless struggle against evil. This leads him to challenge the status quo, as he publicly questions the circumstances of past battles and formulates plans to establish neutral ground, willing to go to great lengths to protect his ideals. In the second season, his journey becomes even more perilous, as he is at one point consumed by a mutated king before being restored, highlighting the dangerous nature of his quest for justice and freedom.
