TV-Series
Description
Kyle von Paristan is the second prince of his kingdom and the younger brother of the first prince, Julius. From a young age, he was betrothed to Scarlet El Vandimion, the daughter of a high-ranking ducal family. Over the years, he subjected her to persistent verbal, physical, and psychological abuse, treating her more like a possession than a partner. His background as a royal and his position as heir apparent fed his sense of entitlement, and he sought to claim the throne with the backing of various corrupt aristocrats who were willing to use his influence for their own ends.
His personality is marked by extreme arrogance, pettiness, condescension, and selfishness. He is prone to childish outbursts and temper tantrums when things fail to go his way, displaying a mentality often compared to that of a ten-year-old. His judgment is shallow, and his competence in matters of state and personal conduct is notably poor, leading many around him to regard him as a foolish prince. These traits make him highly susceptible to manipulation, and he is easily led by those who appeal to his vanity and desire for power.
Kyle’s primary motivation is to advance his own standing and escape any arrangement that inconveniences him. He becomes infatuated with Terenezza, a young woman of lower noble status who presents herself as a victim of Scarlet’s supposed bullying. Blinded by this infatuation and a desire to assert his will, Kyle publicly annuls his engagement to Scarlet at a formal event, falsely accusing her of mistreating Terenezza. This act is an attempt to legitimize his new relationship and to humiliate Scarlet, but it ultimately triggers the chain of events that defines his role in the narrative.
His role in the story is that of the catalyst and an antagonist. The public condemnation and broken engagement become the final straw that allows Scarlet to unleash her suppressed nature. When she asks for “one final thing” and proceeds to physically strike him and others present, it transforms Kyle into the first visible target of her long-repressed fury. From that point, he serves as a foil to the more intelligent and capable Julius, as well as to Scarlet herself, demonstrating the consequences of unearned privilege and weak character. He is not a powerful adversary in skill or intellect, but rather a representation of a corrupt and incompetent nobility.
Kyle’s key relationships are defined by dysfunction and contrast. With Scarlet, he was an abusive fiancé who never recognized her worth and actively mistreated her. His brother Julius, by contrast, is observant, strategic, and far more capable, immediately grasping Scarlet’s true potential. Julius’s calm, superior demeanor highlights Kyle’s inadequacies. Kyle’s relationship with Terenezza is built on his own naivety; she exploits his affection to elevate her social standing and to undermine Scarlet, only to abandon him when his status crumbles.
Kyle’s development follows a steep downward trajectory. Following the annulment and the exposure of his actions and alliances, he is eventually disinherited and stripped of his royal status. With his political backing gone and his ambitions shattered, he faces imprisonment. Terenezza’s desertion after his disownment plunges him into a descent toward madness. Rather than rising to any challenge or showing growth, his arc is one of consistent humiliation and ruin, his poor judgment leading to the dismantling of his schemes and standing.
As for notable abilities, Kyle possesses none that distinguish him in a positive light. He lacks skill in combat, diplomacy, or strategy. His most defining trait is his ineptitude, which stands in direct opposition to the martial prowess of Scarlet and the political acumen of his brother. Any influence he holds is borrowed from his royal title and the corrupt nobles who manipulate him, not from any personal competence.
