Description
Liam Sera Banfield is the main protagonist who, after dying in his previous life as a kind but betrayed man, is reincarnated into the Algrand Empire as the heir of the Banfield family, an earl's house that controls a galaxy. He regains the memories of his past life at the age of five, resolving to live selfishly and become an evil lord this time, believing that his previous virtuous nature only led to suffering. However, his understanding of evil is shaped by outdated notions from a modern, Earth-based perspective, and he has no practical knowledge of how to be a tyrant in a feudal space empire. On his fifth birthday, his parents, Cliff and Darcy Sera Banfield, unexpectedly transfer all titles, territory, and assets to him, then leave for the imperial capital, effectively abandoning him. Liam interprets this as part of the support promised by the enigmatic Guide, his benefactor from his past life.
As a young child, Liam is left alone with the house's elderly butler, Brian, and soon receives a high-spec android maid named Amagi, whom he selects from a catalog. Amagi becomes his most trusted confidante and surrogate mother figure, managing the household and moderating his more extreme impulses. Despite his intention to act cruelly, Liam's actions inadvertently lead to peace and prosperity for his territory, earning him the reputation of a benevolent ruler rather than an evil lord. His personality is fundamentally earnest and prudent; he does not indulge in luxury and retains down-to-earth values from his former life. He struggles to understand the evolving aesthetics and cultural standards of his new world, often appearing austere and stoic to those around him.
Motivated by a desire to live only for himself and to avoid the vulnerability that came with his past kindness, Liam pursues power through legitimate means, such as improving his territory's economy and military. He trains obsessively in the One-Flash sword style, a technique he learns from a con artist named Yasushi, but through sheer determination and talent, he perfects it into a genuinely deadly martial art. His role in the story is that of a reluctant hero: every scheme he devises to become a tyrant backfires, instead solving problems and earning him loyal subordinates and admirers. Key relationships include his protective bond with Amagi, his respectful but distant connection with his absent parents, and his early interactions with the butler Brian, who misinterprets Liam's evil plans as signs of wise leadership.
As a young lord, Liam's development focuses on his transition from a reincarnated salaryman with cynical views to a capable ruler who inadvertently builds a powerful domain. His notable abilities include exceptional piloting skills, mastery of the One-Flash sword style, and a strategic mind honed by his experiences in both lives. He also possesses a hatred for corruption, which drives him to eliminate truly wicked officials, further enhancing his accidental reputation as a holy lord. Throughout his early years, Liam remains unaware that the Guide is actually an evil entity trying to ruin him, and his growing success only weakens the Guide's influence.
