Description
Himari Aozora is the main protagonist of the second season, having advanced to her second year at Paradise Private Academy alongside her close friend Mitsuki Hoshikawa. Her background is that of a junior middle school student living in the girls' dormitory, whose life takes a dramatic turn upon discovering a mysterious bracelet that transports her to the virtual world of the AiPriVerse, where she accidentally auditions and debuts as an idol. This event forces her to balance her ordinary school life with her secret activities as an AiPri, or idol princess.
In terms of personality, Himari presents a compelling blend of energetic positivity and deep-seated shyness. While she is outwardly cheerful and driven by a lofty goal of making ten thousand friends, she is also notably timid and prone to crying easily, especially when nervous or confronted with stage fright. To manage this anxiety during performances, she relies on a secret, almost ritualistic act: pressing her forehead against her childhood friend, Mitsuki, a gesture that symbolizes their deep bond and helps her suppress her fears. This core conflict between her desire for connection and her natural timidity is a central aspect of her character.
Her primary motivation is her deeply social nature and her dream of forming countless friendships, which fuels her journey as an idol. In Himitsu no AiPri: Ring-hen, her role in the story becomes more active as she and Mitsuki eagerly enter a mysterious AiPri contest held by the enigmatic Princess Ring Clover, who promises the winner the status of an Eternal Aipri. This arc sees her participating in a brand new type of transformation called a Buzzrium Change, pushing her abilities further. Her role also expands as she matures into a leadership position, becoming the president of the Paradise Private Academy's Aipri Club.
Key relationships anchor her personal and professional development. Mitsuki Hoshikawa is her foundational support; they are childhood friends, dormmates, and eventually teammates in the idol unit Secret Friends∞. Their relationship is tested and strengthened by the fact that they both hide their idol identities from the public, leading to a reconciliation after a broken childhood promise to debut together. Another significant figure is Tsumugi Suzukaze, an enigmatic girl from the AiPriVerse who joins their unit. Tsumugi is later revealed to be an AI entity who sacrifices herself, only to be revived by the collective Friend Energy generated by Himari and others, which strengthens their bond and grants Tsumugi new abilities. Her family includes her parents Tomoki and Hinano, older brother Hinata, younger sister Hiiro, and her pet dog Fuku-chan.
Throughout the series, Himari undergoes notable development. She grows from a nervous beginner who can barely perform without her secret ritual into a more confident idol and a capable leader of her club. Her journey in the Ring-hen season specifically highlights her heightened confidence and fighting spirit as she takes on the challenges of the contest alongside Mitsuki. Her notable abilities include surprising athletic skill in dodgeball, where she is often the last player to be eliminated. As an idol, her preferred fashion brand is Poppin' Heart, which aligns with her milky pink theme color. Her performances include solo songs such as P.O.P.P.Y and Pastel Step Days, duets like UNBEATABLE DUO ENERGY with Mitsuki, and group tracks with Secret Friends∞.
