TV-Series
Description
Kyoshiro Nekozuki is a high school senior and the heir to the Nekozuku family, a lineage recognized for its work as exorcists across generations. He is currently training to follow in this family tradition and is possessed by a supernatural cat spirit named Nabeshima, whom he uses to perform exorcisms. Due to Nabeshima draining his nutrition, Kyoshiro is notably frail and underweight, weighing only forty kilograms despite being a big eater. This physical condition manifests in a thin frame, a lack of stamina, and prominent dark circles under his eyes, giving him an appearance that reflects his chronic fatigue.
In terms of personality, Kyoshiro is strict, sharp, and highly intelligent, but he prefers solitude and dislikes unnecessary closeness with either people or spirits. His serious and no-nonsense demeanor makes him the primary straight man in the story, as he rarely participates in comedic antics and often finds himself frustrated by the persistent and quirky individuals who ignore his need for personal space. Despite his reserved and often irritable exterior, he is observant and demonstrates a sense of care for those around him, particularly his underclassman, Shio Inukai.
Kyoshiro's role in the story is deeply tied to his duties as an exorcist-in-training. He uses his connection with Nabeshima to banish evil spirits and help them pass on, which forms the core of his supernatural activities. He attends the same high school as Shio Inukai, a junior who is prone to spiritual possessions, and Kyoshiro was aware of Shio's situation well before the main events of the narrative. His interactions with the broader cast are frequently forced. He finds the presence of Momoyuki Mogura bothersome, yet a family debt from his great-grandfather, who was saved by Mogura's family, compels him to cooperate despite his personal aversion. Another key relationship is with his mother, Kyoko Nekozuku, who acknowledges her son's intelligence and trusts in his abilities.
Kyoshiro's development revolves around the struggle to balance his responsibilities with his physical limitations. He constantly battles exhaustion and the demanding ego of his companion, Nabeshima, who acts based on principles of appearing cool and often demands attention and respect. This struggle is a source of ongoing frustration, as his frail body lags behind his strong will and sharp mind. His notable abilities stem directly from this partnership; his primary skill is exorcism, utilizing Nabeshima's power to combat spiritual threats. Although his skills are still developing, this connection makes him effective against spirits, but at a great personal cost to his own energy and health. In addition to his spiritual talents, he possesses a remarkable academic intelligence, allowing him to excel in his studies with little effort.
