Description
Haro in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- is a small, spherical robotic companion with a white-painted body, making it visually distinct from other iterations of the iconic franchise mascot. In this story, Haro originally belonged to a group known as the Pomeranians clan before coming into the possession of the protagonist, a young pilot named Amate Yuzuriha, who is often called Machu. Haro accompanies Machu wherever she goes and continues to follow her when she decides to run away with the characters Shūji Itō and Nyaan.
Personality-wise, Haro is portrayed as friendly, endearing, and consistently supportive. Its behavior is characterized by an eagerness to help, making it a valuable and reassuring presence for pilots of varying skill levels. This supportive nature defines its primary motivations, as its main mission is to accompany and assist Machu, who has limited experience handling mobile suits. Haro's role in the narrative is largely functional, serving as a guide and assistant to Machu, helping her learn the controls and operate her mobile suit with more confidence by offering advice and system support during piloting.
A key relationship in the series is between Haro and Machu, whom it aids directly. Beyond this, Haro is also taken along on Machu's journey with Shūji Itō and Nyaan. In terms of development, Haro's journey is defined by its transfer of ownership from the Pomeranians clan to Machu, and its subsequent role as her constant companion.
The robot possesses several notable abilities that are integral to the plot. As an autonomous AI, Haro can engage in human-like conversations and provide real-time alerts. Its most significant capability is its function as an activation key, as Haro is able to unlock the gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX mobile suit's Omega Psycommu function without needing a standard activation key. This ability is crucial, as it enables the mobile suit to access its full potential and directly facilitates Machu's role as its pilot.
