Description
Gawman Nobile, a veteran mobile suit pilot for the anti-Federation group Mafty, bears a large, distinctive facial scar. Known by the callsign "Messer 2," he pilots the Me02R-F01 Messer Type-F01. During Mafty's Davao diversion, he operated solo, striking targets like the Regent Hotel and the Tasaday Hotel where Hathaway Noa was located. Clashing with Federation Gustav Karl units, he openly disapproved of their grenade use near civilians despite his own role in the attack. Combat critically damaged his mobile suit's left thruster, forcing him to crash-land in a park, where Federation forces captured him as Hathaway, Gigi Andalucia, and Emerelda Zubin watched.
Interrogated by Federation Captain Kenneth Sleg, Gawman sarcastically confirmed Kenneth's accusation that Hathaway led Mafty, aware the claim lacked credibility without proof. Resisting further questioning, he offered only rumors before Kenneth knocked him unconscious. Later, Gawman reappeared as a hostage aboard Lieutenant Lane Aim's RX-104FF Penelope, used by Kenneth as a human shield against Mafty. During the Penelope's battle with Hathaway's Ξ (Xi) Gundam, Gawman advised Lane on tactics while simultaneously urging Hathaway over open comms to destroy the Penelope even if it killed him. Defying Kenneth, Lane ejected Gawman, allowing Hathaway to retrieve him with the Xi Gundam. Gawman returned to Mafty's mothership, the Valiant, to recover.
He demonstrates resilience and loyalty to Mafty, willing to sacrifice himself. His experience allowed him to provide tactical insights during combat, including the Penelope-Xi Gundam fight. His fate after Mafty's unsuccessful raid on the Federation Assembly in Adelaide is not detailed in available sources.
