Kanata Hjuger is the central protagonist of the anime "Tales of Crestoria: The Wake of Sin". He is later saved from Enforcers by a mysterious gun-slinging man named Vicious, who pushes Kanata to confront his crime directly. Vicious forces him to choose between letting his sin consume him or owning it. Kanata ultimately declares that he does not regret his actions, as they were necessary to save Misella. This acceptance awakens his Blood Sin, granting him a powerful new two-handed greatsword known as Patricidal Edge.

Throughout the story, Kanata serves as the emotional core of the group, motivated by a promise to find a way to erase his and Misella's condemnation. His journey is one of moral maturation. He initially clings to the idea that his father deserved death, but through meeting others, he comes to understand that his crime is not purely black and white and that he may never be forgiven.
