TV-Series
Description
Yang Duan He, also known as Yo Tan Wa, rules as king of Qin's Western Mountain Tribes and leads the Confederation of Xirong mountain tribes. Feared across the mountains as the "Lord of Death" and revered as queen, her appearance features light-red hair, blue eyes, pale skin, and distinctive facial tattoos: a dot inside a parenthesis on her forehead and two dots under each eye. She typically wears robes trimmed with animal furs and an intimidating mask adorned with large fangs and horns, occasionally donning armor instead.

She became ruler of the Chouga tribe at a young age. Elders showing her their domain's territory inspired her vision to unite all mountain tribes under her rule. During a past campaign, she discovered Bajio living feral and consuming human flesh; captivated by his strength, she brought him into civilization. In 253 B.C., she defeated Shunmen of the Bird Fang Tribe in single combat, absorbing his tribe into her faction—though Shunmen continued to challenge her repeatedly afterward.

Her alliance with Qin originated when she met Ei Sei during his brother's rebellion. Initial distrust, fueled by Qin's historical betrayal of mountain tribes, faded upon hearing Ei Sei's vision for a unified China and witnessing Shin's impassioned plea to focus on future dreams. She mobilized 3,000 warriors to aid in reclaiming the Qin throne, personally commanding from the frontlines and demonstrating formidable combat prowess.

Following the rebellion, she expanded her influence, defeating rival tribes to bring most western mountain lands under her control. Before the Battle of Bayou, she warned Ei Sei about the Xiongnu horsemen tribes, revealing she had led 80,000 troops against them only to discover 100,000 tribesmen massacred—likely by Zhao forces planning a surprise attack on Qin.

During the Coalition Invasion, she postponed her campaign against the Kabanko tribe to answer Ei Sei's plea for aid. Her 30,000 warriors executed a surprise assault on the Zhao's western front at the Battle of Sai. She intended to duel the Zhao Great General Hou Ken but yielded to Shin's request to confront him instead. Her intervention proved crucial to Qin's victory, after which she immediately departed to resume her own campaigns.

In subsequent Qin military operations, she served as a general, capturing a Wei city during the Koku You Campaign. For the Western Zhao Invasion, she commanded the second army under Supreme Commander Ou Sen. She swiftly secured Retsubi fortress and later orchestrated Ryouyou's capture by dividing her forces to lure Zhao and Quanrong troops into a trap, resulting in Rozo's death and the Quanrong's submission to her rule.

As part of the revived Six Great Generals system during the Battle of Eikyuu, she continued frontline engagements. Throughout the Zhao Retaliation and Hango Campaigns, she defended forts like Heiyou and Bujou while supporting broader offensives. At Hango, her forces reached a stalemate against Ri Boku's retainers until Ou Sen ordered a full retreat following his army's collapse.

Militarily, she commands exceptional swordsmanship, defeating warriors like Shunmen and Goba swiftly, and excels in hand-to-hand combat, once knocking out an insubordinate chieftain. Her tactical acumen blends frontline aggression with strategic oversight, maintaining high troop morale. Her capabilities rank consistently high: strength (95), leadership (99–100), intelligence (95–96), and experience (rated S/A).

Her key relationships include Bajio as a trusted subordinate and comrade, Tajifu as a loyal follower, and Heki, who harbors a longstanding romantic interest in her. Historical records note that the real Yang Duan He was likely male and not a mountain king, with the character's gender and tribal background being fictionalized elements.
