Description
Mewi Freya is a young orphaned girl who becomes a significant supporting character in the story. She is small and petite in stature, with light blue hair that is long and worn in a messy, wild style, complemented by bangs that fall between her eyes. A dark purple headband decorated with gold diamond-shaped ornaments is a notable part of her appearance. She possesses magical powers, with her primary ability being an incomplete form of fire magic.

Her background is defined by profound loss. She became an orphan after the death of her beloved older sister, Helica. Overcome with grief and vulnerable, she was tricked by the villain Shoan into believing that her sister could be brought back to life through a miracle of resurrection. The condition for this supposed miracle was that Mewi would steal enough money for him, leading her into a life of petty crime and manipulation on the streets.

Personality-wise, Mewi initially presents a tough exterior. She is guarded, distrustful, and resigned to a bleak view of the world due to her traumatic experiences. Her circumstances force her to be resourceful but also wary of adults and authority figures. Despite this hardened surface, there is a core of hope and deep longing for her sister beneath her abrasive behavior. This desire is so powerful that it makes her susceptible to exploitation.

Her central motivation is the desperate wish to reunite with her sister Helica. This singular goal drives all of her actions, even when they lead her down a dangerous and illegal path. The hope for a miracle is the only thing giving her life meaning after her loss.

Mewi's role in the story begins when she attempts to pickpocket Beryl Gardenant, the protagonist. This encounter exposes the criminal operation she is entangled in and reveals the scheme orchestrated by Shoan. Beryl takes it upon himself to protect her, and she becomes a key figure in a larger conflict involving religion and international relations. Several characters, including the magician Lucy Diamond, work to secure a future for her. Ultimately, Beryl directly battles the masterminds behind the scenes to secure Mewi's future and free her from Shoan's control.

Her primary relationship is with Beryl Gardenant. Initially, she dismisses him as just an old man, but she gradually learns to trust him. Through witnessing his genuine kindness and big heart, her perception changes dramatically. She comes to love him as a father figure, which is a major turning point for her character. Despite almost everyone else calling Beryl Master or Instructor, she is notably one of the only characters who bluntly refers to him as old man.

Her relationship with her deceased sister, Helica, is the emotional core of her character arc. The memory of her sister and the hope of bringing her back is the force that both hurts and drives her. Her development is marked by her slow opening up and learning to trust others, moving from a life of street survival to one where she can accept help and care from Beryl and his allies. She is eventually recommended to enroll in the kingdom's magic academy, indicating her path toward formal training to refine her raw magical talent.
