TV-Series
Description
Miori Mitou is a first-year student in the International Business Department at Yokohama City University, attending the same institution as Sakuta Azusagawa, Mai Sakurajima, and Nodoka Toyohama. She is introduced during the university arc of the series, first appearing at a freshman welcome party where she meets Sakuta. Like him, she is an oddball who does not own a smartphone in an era where such devices are nearly universal, a trait that immediately sets her apart from her peers.

Miori presents a bright and approachable demeanor, interacting with others with a frankness that puts people at ease. She follows trends and dresses with care, but she does so for her own satisfaction rather than to seek the approval of others. Despite her outgoing surface, she maintains a subtle emotional distance, never allowing anyone to get too close. She refers to herself as a potential friend rather than a friend, a distinction that reflects her cautious approach to forming bonds. She is not easily intimidated and shares Sakuta's fearless and eccentric nature, which allows her to engage with him on equal footing.

Her motivations are initially ambiguous. She approaches Sakuta at the welcome party knowing that he is in a committed relationship with Mai Sakurajima, a fact she openly acknowledges as a reason she feels safe talking to him, since he would not develop romantic feelings for her. This suggests that she seeks a genuine connection without the complications of romance, though her deeper reasons for attaching herself to him unfold gradually. She also shows an awareness of Adolescence Syndrome from her first appearance, hinting that she is tied to the central mysteries of the series.

Miori plays a key role in unraveling the Kirishima Touko mystery and resolving a widespread Adolescence Syndrome that affects many people. She becomes a main heroine in later volumes of the light novel series, with her own story arc taking center stage in the final installment. Unlike other characters who approach problems from a logical or theoretical perspective, she tends to give advice drawn from personal experience, offering a grounded and empathetic perspective.

Her appearance includes a distinctive beauty mark below her left eye, and she is regarded as attractive by her peers, though she does not seem to place much importance on that reputation. She is aware of Sakuta's relationship with Mai and does not attempt to interfere with it, instead forming a platonic bond with him built on mutual understanding and shared peculiarities. Through her involvement in the story, she grows from a mysterious supporting figure into a fully realized character whose own struggles and intentions are brought to light.
