Mouten is a Qin general commanding the specialist Gaku Ka Army. He belongs to the prestigious Mou family as the grandson of the late Great General Mou Gou and eldest son of Great General Mou Bu. His younger brother, Mou Ki, serves as a strategist. Shou Hei Kun, the Chief of Military Affairs, acts as his adoptive uncle.
He sports a strikingly feminine appearance with long, bright brown hair (darkened in later depictions), a slender frame, and no facial hair, marked by a small mole beneath his right eye. Early in his career, he wore a pink robe over armor and wielded a thin jian sword. Advancing in rank, his attire evolved to a darker pink robe with a fur neckpiece, golden vambraces, and later pauldrons, a choker, and a cape after becoming a general. His physique shows no resemblance to Mou Bu.
Mouten presents a friendly, outgoing, and often carefree personality, frequently using humor. This masks a cunning and strategically sharp mind, especially evident in serious combat. He leverages his family's influence without hesitation to achieve goals but treats all ranks equally, including former servants like Shin. Deep familial loyalty drives him to near-reckless actions to protect relatives: attacking Ren Pa after seeing his grandfather injured and intercepting Kan Mei's fatal strike against Mou Bu at Kankoku Pass, nearly dying.
His military career began young, appointed as a 100-man commander in his teens. Key contributions include pivotal roles in the Anhou Campaign, Sanyou invasion, and conflicts against Ren Pa. During the Coalition Invasion under General Tou, he temporarily commanded 5,000 troops, spearheading cavalry maneuvers to flank attackers on Qin's headquarters. His leadership shone at the Battle of Shukai Plains in the Western Zhao Invasion, preventing the collapse of Ma Kou Army remnants after its commander's death, restoring half its strength, and earning a temporary promotion to general by Ou Sen.
Mouten is a multifaceted military prodigy recognized across the Warring States. His tactical acumen earned top marks under Shou Hei Kun's tutelage in battlefield tactics, formations, and theory. Statistically, his abilities rank consistently high: strength (87-89), leadership (85-90), intelligence (90-92). As a swordsman, he emphasizes precision, dexterity, and counterattacks, holding his own against opponents like Kou Yoku and Ba Nan Ji. His exceptional parrying skill allows him to deflect finishing blows from elite warriors like Gaku Shou. In command, he effectively boosts troop morale and adapts swiftly to fluid battlefields.
Significant relationships include a close bond with grandfather Mou Gou, whom he comforted on his deathbed. Interactions with father Mou Bu involve underlying discomfort due to the latter's intensity, though deep care persists. He shows protective support for brother Mou Ki, recommending him for strategic roles. He holds heartfelt affection for Ko Zen, his childhood guardian and later adjutant, calling him "Gramps." Among peers, he maintains a friendly rivalry with Ou Hon, respecting his abilities while finding his demeanor rigid, and considers Shin a close friend, mediating disputes between them and offering leadership guidance.
Historically inspired by Qin general Meng Tian, known for repelling Xiongnu and building the Great Wall, Mouten achieved general rank at age 25, becoming one of Qin's youngest alongside Ou Hon and Shin. Outside the military, he holds a judgeship in Qin's legal system due to childhood studies in legalism.
