Description
Matsuyuki Akiyama is a first-year student at Sumomogaoka High School who entered with the highest grades in his year and delivered the speech at the entrance ceremony. He is a graduate of Second Middle School and the younger brother of the poet-novelist Owari Konoyono. He has short black hair and violet eyes. Known for his academic excellence and composure, Akiyama often appears reserved and rarely reveals his true emotions. He has a tendency to calmly look down on those around him, though this is an outward demeanor that masks his internal depth.

Akiyama joins the school's Broadcasting Club, where his standout voice and clear articulation make him a natural announcer. His calm and objective nature allows him to function as a steady mediator within the group, often defusing tensions and providing a balanced perspective. He is impressed by Hana Haruyama’s emotional and powerful recitation during a club orientation, recognizing her raw talent early on. His relationship with other club members is professional and somewhat detached, but he interacts with them as a reliable supporting presence.

Motivated by a desire to hone his own vocal skills, Akiyama participates in club activities and competitions with a quiet, focused discipline. He does not undergo a dramatic character arc within the series, but his consistent reliability and sharp observational skills underscore his role as a grounding force in the Broadcasting Club. His ability to deliver clear, composed readings and his top academic performance are his most notable traits.
