Chiwa is a young girl who resides in the slums of the Sphere, the floating world where the story begins. She holds significant personal importance to the protagonist, Rudo, as his childhood friend and first love. Her caring and attentive nature towards Rudo is the foundation of his deep affection for her, and she is shown to reciprocate his feelings to some extent.

In the narrative, Chiwa's primary role is a pivotal emotional trigger. When Rudo is falsely accused of murdering his adoptive father, Regto, Chiwa does not believe in his innocence.
