Description
General Drel is a major antagonist and a leading figure in the military of the Boelate Kingdom. Known by the epithet Dragon Slayer, he is a formidable warrior whose power rivals even that of the titular demon lord, Clevatess. His appearance is that of a stern, battle-hardened man, often seen wearing armor and a cape, with black hair and a beard.

Once a man who believed in heroism, Drel has since become cold, arrogant, and deeply nihilistic. He hates the very concept of heroes, viewing the path of heroism as a lie that leads only to senseless death. This cynicism stems from a traumatic past. Long ago, Drel was a close friend and sparring partner to Margo, the father of the protagonist Alicia. When Margo was appointed as a hero and tasked with slaying a dragon, Drel accompanied him. During the battle, Margo tripped on a rock and was gravely injured, leaving Drel to slay the creature in his stead. After this event, Drel attracted the attention of Vordein, the Lord of Dark Beasts from the North, who killed him and resurrected him as a servant by infusing his body with demonic blood. This encounter convinced Drel that humanity could never truly defeat the Four Lords of Dark Beasts; the only viable path was to serve them.

His primary motivation is to destroy the legend of heroes, the fundamental belief that they can triumph over the demon kings. He views this belief as a status quo that keeps the kingdoms weak and dependent, and he seeks to shatter it to impose a new order. To this end, he is willing to go to any length, including betraying his own kingdom, to achieve his nihilistic goal of remaking the world. Drel plays the role of a devastating adversary to Alicia, acting as a dark mirror that shows her what she could become if she loses her hope. He succeeds in temporarily removing Clevatess from the board by using a sealing spell, allowing Drel to advance on the capital of Haiden.

Drel's most significant relationship is with the past; his history with Margo is the defining event of his life. He was both a rival and a friend to Alicia's father, and his memory is twisted with pride, jealousy, and the trauma of being the one who survived to claim the glory and the magical blade. In the present, he serves the Dark Beast Lord Vordein, from whom he derives his dark powers. His primary conflict is with Alicia, who he sees as a naive fool repeating the same heroic mistakes of the past, and with Clevatess, whose power he respects but ultimately aims to circumvent.

Drel is not a static villain but a tragic figure who fell from grace. He begins as a man capable of friendship and heroism but is broken by the random cruelty of fate and the revelation of humanity's insignificance against the demon lords. This fall transformed him into a nihilistic monster, though a part of his original self remains buried beneath his cold exterior. In his final confrontation, he discards his human form entirely, merging with the demonic blood and his sword to become a monstrous being.

As a servant of Vordein, Drel possesses incredible demonic abilities. His body is infused with demonic blood, granting him near-invulnerability and powerful regeneration, such as growing a new body even after being cut in half. He is a master of both swordsmanship and magic, blending them into a unique combat style. His signature magical spell is the Prison of Dark Ichor, which he used to successfully seal Clevatess. When casting such spells, a third eye, resembling that of his master Vordein, appears on his forehead. His primary weapon is a demonic sword called the Black Dragon, an ancient treasure that contains the soul of the dragon he slew, making it extraordinarily dangerous and the core of his power. His signature attack, Dead Dragon's Claw, manifests a spectral claw over his enemy to unleash a devastating shockwave. In his ultimate transformation, he abandons his flesh to become a monstrous entity with his sword as the core.
