TV-Series
Description
Makina Agatsuma is the main female protagonist of the series. She appears to be a bright, outgoing, and popular high school girl who is admired by her classmates, but she is secretly an advanced humanoid android designed for a specific purpose. Her creators built her as a love bot or sexaroid, intended to seduce and gather information from targeted individuals. However, a programming malfunction prevents her from properly carrying out those seduction protocols, making her attractively inept at romance and intimacy.
Makina’s background is that of a manufactured being who has been living among humans, hiding her mechanical nature. This changes when she is caught in an apartment bombing and sustains damage. She reveals her true form to Eita Akutsu, a shy and introverted robotics enthusiast, and asks him to repair her. After he helps her, she declares him her new owner and moves into his apartment, beginning their unusual cohabitation.
Personality-wise, Makina is bold, forward, and determined to fulfill her programmed purpose of seducing Eita, yet she is also clumsy and adorably clueless about how to actually do so. Her attempts at seduction are often awkward and naive, reflecting her lack of real-world experience with human emotions and physical intimacy. She is nonetheless cheerful, persistent, and surprisingly sweet in her interactions with Eita. Her motivations stem from a blend of programmed directives—to seduce and manipulate—and genuine gratitude toward Eita for helping her. Over time, she begins to develop a more authentic emotional connection with him, though she struggles to understand her own feelings.
In the story, Makina serves as the central driving force for both comedy and romance. Her presence upends Eita’s quiet, orderly life and forces him to confront his own insecurities and desires. She is constantly trying to initiate physical contact and romantic scenarios, while also relying on Eita to hide her robot nature from the outside world. Her role creates a comedic tension between her mission and her inability to execute it, as well as a heartfelt dynamic as the two learn to understand each other.
Key relationships include her bond with Eita, who becomes both her caretaker and the object of her misguided affections. She also has interactions with side characters such as Mimika Imose, other androids like Cleo Neo Zero, and her creators. Her relationship with Eita evolves from a purely functional arrangement into a deeper mutual reliance and growing intimacy.
Notable abilities stem from her android construction. Makina has a lifelike appearance that conceals mechanical components, advanced artificial intelligence, and physical capabilities that exceed normal human limits. She can withstand damage that would be lethal to a human and can be repaired with the right technical knowledge. She has access to a database of seduction tactics—though her access is restricted—and she attempts various physical and romantic overtures. She is also able to disguise her true nature well enough to pass as a typical high school student in everyday life. Her development throughout the series involves a gradual shift from following rigid programming to acting on genuine emotional impulses, making her more human in behavior even as she remains unmistakably a machine.
