Description
Ouran Nakagawa, better known by the nickname Ontan, is one of the two central protagonists of the anime Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction. She is a high school girl in her third year who meets her best friend Kadode Koyama when both are eight years old, and the pair remain inseparable through their teenage years. Ouran is physically recognizable by her long black hair, which she often wears in twintails secured with skull-shaped hair ties, and she comes from a distinctive family: her father runs a business called Nakagawa Motors, her mother is active in politics, and her older brother Hiroshi lives as a NEET while earning income through affiliate marketing.
In terms of personality, Ouran is flamboyant, sociable, and highly imaginative. She frequently rambles about grandiose ambitions, including her joking goal to enslave mankind or lead the human race to destruction, and she enjoys bold statements that make her seem eccentric at first glance. Despite this outgoing front, however, she tends to reveal her true self only to her friends and family, suggesting that her loud persona is partly a shield. She is very fond of video games, especially shooter games, which she typically plays together with Kadode, and her personality contrasts sharply with Kadode's more cautious nature, with the two balancing each other out. This contrast is central to their relationship, as Kadode anchors her while Ouran brings energy and spontaneity to their friendship.
Ouran's motivations revolve around maintaining her close bond with Kadode and enjoying their ordinary shared activities, such as gaming and spending time together, even as a giant alien mothership hovers over Tokyo and changes the world around them. Her role in the story is that of an emotional counterweight to the political tension and apocalyptic uncertainty of the setting, embodying the stubborn persistence of everyday teenage life. Throughout the narrative, her cheerful worldview is tested by the violence and moral complexity surrounding her, but her loyalty to Kadode remains the constant core of her character. She has no supernatural powers; her notable traits are her vivid imagination, her quick and energetic speech, her skill and enthusiasm for video games, and her emotional perceptiveness beneath the theatrical surface.
