Description
Mikado Momodera is a young prodigy officer of the Momotaro Agency, a organization that hunts Oni, and he serves as a supporting character in the story. He is an early adult with long blonde hair that reaches past his shoulders, bright yellow eyes with prominent eyelashes, and a small mole near the bottom left corner of his mouth. He wears the standard white pinstripe suit and black combat boots of the Momo Corp uniform. Mikado is naturally friendly and approachable, forming a genuine friendship with Shiki Ichinose after meeting him at a festival, based on shared interests. He holds strong convictions and judges people by their actions rather than their birth, which sets him apart from many of his colleagues. This empathy becomes a central conflict for him when Shiki’s true identity as an Oni is revealed, forcing Mikado into a confrontation. After he openly expresses sympathy for the Oni and questions the morality of the conflict, he is stripped of his position as Deputy Commanding Officer and reassigned to a rural prefecture as a general troop, establishing him as a dissenting voice within the agency. His role in the narrative is that of a moral bridge, humanizing the Momotaro side and prompting both characters and the audience to reconsider the black-and-white nature of the war. His notable ability is the Yamata no Orochi technique, which allows him to materialize multiple firearms from a mist of black bacteria that emanates from his back. He can control each weapon independently and cleverly uses the recoil from his shots to propel himself at high speed across the battlefield, making him a highly unpredictable and deadly opponent. Throughout the story, Mikado’s internal struggle between his sense of justice, his compassion for demons, and the brutality of the organization he serves drives his development, and his moral dilemmas have a significant impact on the thematic weight of the war between Oni and Momotaro.
